naw we can go out and find them . just can't shoot the fluggers
unless of course they have alreay brutaly maimed us and we are nearing death and then we can only shoot them with non harming projectiles or peper spray*not the good stuff the cops have but the watered down stuff they sell as bear defence spray*

Spring Bruins

Nice bear dw. Out quadding this afternoon, my ridgeback went into alert mode, a medium sized bruin 20 meters away. First one I've seen out this year, the wife said" leave it alone, keep quadding" so I did:D

Skinned him at home, and get this. Very early bear yet he had more than 2inches of white fat on his backside. Never seen that before. Maybe for fall, but early spring.
This past saturday I cut the head off of a fair sized black bear(350-400 lbs.?) and his neck was encased in about an inch of fat . At this time of year I assumed that they would have very little fat reserves left .

Alomost all bears come out of hibernation with plenty of fat reserves, at least the ones up here do. They need it to take them through the first couple of weeks while food is scarce and things are just greening up.

As well, during this time their stomach and alimentary tract need to get revved up again to process food, and they get rid of the resinous plug in their colon.
