Bear fat

Unrendered bear fat works in sausage, stick to a 70/30 ratio of meat to fat.

I think bear is my fav game meat. I've never been a big hunk of meat/ steak and roast guy. I like braises abd sausages though. Ymmv
There is a traditional Italian bread made with lard and crackling. Might be fun to try if you can keep from eating them all

Has anybody rendered bear grease a second time? As in slow boiling it again to take some of the water out?

This little blurb from an old Yukon Bear Bacon pamphlet I have says to repeat simmering a few times if desired.

My mother always said Bear lard made the best pies, she always save any fat off every bear I brought home just for this.

What makes you think there is water in it? Once it has cooled, the water would separate from the fat if there was any in it and it would be easy to see and separate. From your pictures, it doesn't look like there is any water, looks like 100% bear fat to me!

Anyone tried making shaving soap with bear fat?

I did late last year. Got some stainless steel shaving bowls off amazon and gave each of my hunting buddies that use a shaving brush a tin! It turned out fantastic. I used a light sandlewood fragrance. I also made bear soap bars that turned out amazing as well. The shaving soap was a lot more complicated of a recipe than the bar soap. But the results was well worth the extra effort!

Once it hardens and then I use it, as it heats up and melts, there seems to be some water in the pan. But I very well could be wrong on what it is.
