My friend has a bear bait service and has some openings this weekend (Friday to Sunday)...Accomodations supplied but you bring food and sleeping bag and gear and your valid alberta bear license.

He has 27 active baits with different color phases of bear. Platform stands all on crown land. They supply the transport from camp to the bait sites, he has a firepit for the evening etc....To cover costs, he is offering this three day hunt to us CGN'ers for $400 Cdn total!

His name is Larry Bozok and he can be reached at 929-5232. There are some monster bear there as I know the area. Larry tells me all 27 baits are active and if you don't see what you want, he will move you around until you find what you want. pretty tought to go wrong. I'm taking my young fella James (he is gonna flip).

Larry can give you the details. I'm just the messenger.

A-Zone is right...its about 3.5 hrs from Edmonton. On the north side of Lac La Biche....east of Wandering River. The bear are all skinned out and salted for you too......James and I are heading up tomorrow hopefully. All the bull work is done. Just go up and find your bear and light him up.

ahhhhh it suck,s to all you,s out in alberta...to have to worry of how to deal with this;)
good luck with your problems....(big green envie monster here);)

Hey, Fog, just jump on Westjet for $400 return and get one of those big boys for yourself!

Sounds to me like the deal of the year!

Ted

i hope your teasing me on this price...crap i spend more then that on gas just for a one way trip to our moose camp:eek:

What a trip....James got two shots away with his bow at a 6 1/2 footer. He sat on the stand from 5-9pm with no problems. Some neat video too. I have some pics.

No we did not take a bear as James was only using blunt tips on his arrows......but he had a great time and accomplished what he set out to do. He was calm, steady and I was quite impressed.

Definitely worth the $400.......fogducker, if you fly out here, you won't be disappointed. I will bug someone to post pics or the video.....can we put a video here?

James is only 7 yrs old and isn't strong enough yet to pull a bow capable of the proper penetration of arrow.....blunt tips lets him shoot and practice with no harm done......and since he isn't old enough for a big game licence yet, it's about the only legal and ethical way for him to experience hunting.......without the kill for now.

That is a good way for him to experiance hunting! Good thinking. Ill bet he had the time of his life!

A great archer too! I would be shaking like a leaf trying to hold on a bear. I am looking forward to seeing the video.

:D

Not to be an ass....and not to start any contraversy.....but shooting a bear with a blunt tip counts as hunting and would be dealt with by F&W in the same matter.....also harrassing wildlife.....just something to keep in mind...

Too bad you let the cat out of the bag :p

I am sure that the bear is happy to get a free meal and poked with a stick by a seven year old and still be alive. If most of us were there the bear would have had a much worse day, and I mean much worse.

Quit picking on seven year olds Trev, it aint cool :D

Actually I talked to the local F&W officer in Edmonton and he said "have at it. Cant be any worse than hooking a fish in the mouth, dragging it in a boat and letting it go....." He also commented on the fact a 7 yr old can't commit an offence.

Figured we were good to go after talking to the man.

I know what you're saying tho.....and it's a very valid comment. One I should have stated I addressed prior to the hunt.
