well another spring has passed.....without a spring bear hunt in ontario:( ..its getting time to start planning the september hunt..
any one else planning a hunt?

I plan to head out in September, I have a question though.
Where do I pick up a blackie tag? Is it a phone draw like the whitetail?
I live in and around Toronto, and am not quite sure how I go about picking up a tag. THe MNR's regulations aren't much help either.

ANyone have a location or phone number where I can get my tag?

Are you planning a fall bear hunt?
what type of hunting (bait, stalk 'n walk, road, etc.)? I suppose baiting in fall for bears isn't as effective as it is in spring, or is it?

Fall has always been the time of year where we are too excited about deer hunting to think about anything else.... but I recently got the bear hunting bug and am considering a fall bear hunt. Im Clueless, what can you tell me about the Fall Bear hunt?

a few of the crappy tire stores sell tags

I don't suppose you'd know which Crappy Tire's in particular?

I'm planning a fall hunt with a good friend who's never hunted anything before. I've never gone out for black bear before, as you say I'm usually all ansy about deer and moose and duck, but I thought this would be a good way to spend some time in the bush before deer season and school start.

Instead of baiting I figure we'd just try and cover as much ground as possible over a couple of days, who knows if we'll see anything, but it should be fun anyway.

Any newbie advise for stalking? I'll be taking out my .7mm-08, likley with 140 or 150grn bullets, and my buddie is going to try out is brand new 6.5 Swede.

crappy at markham and lawrence... but were ever you buy your other tags should sell a bear tag...
if all fails...lower your self and visit lebarons for a tag..or if you visit oshawa...visit gagnons for a snoop and a tag buying

Just started baiting yesterday. Berries are scarce around here this year. We already have had several "nuisance" bear complaints this summer. About 3 weeks early compared to other years. Of course this isn't due to the closure of the spring hunt. The last statement was soley to appease the MNR AKA Ministry of No Respect. I am planning on taking a few under my trapper's licence. I will keep you posted.

Cheers Darryl
