Bear Killed by John Deere Combine in Wisconsin

Read the story on page 19 of this article about a New Brunswick man that shot a bear that weight 902 lbs field dressed. This bear is in the Guinness Book on Animal Facts and Feats. The only thing wrong in the article is the date which was 1967 not 1976. I know this story is true as I seen the bear and the man that shot it is my Uncle, Joe Allan. He is now 89 years old, still hunts and just last fall got his moose on opening day.

I was able to find a picture of the large black bear that my uncle shot back in 1967. As you can see by the head it really was a large bear. Joe passed away earlier this year at the age of 91.

Heard of a guy around here who chewed up a hibernating black bear with a feller buncher when he went to shorten a stump. Apparently it's den was under the root system and it came above ground just in time to get caught.

meh, I'm having a tough one with this. The smoothness of the shadow along it's back looks toooo uniform for me. I realize the back hairs lay much smoother than the belly but the y looks natural, the back throws me off. I had some issues with the directions that the shadows are cast for some reason but on 20th inspection they do all look to come from a light source above/behind and right of the camera. Plus the shadow of the paw fading into the intensely lit area below the light looks accurate.

The lady can't be standing beyond it or her feet would be showing, you can tell she is a few feet closer than the black 8x8 pole on the left. That's not a 5gal pail in the foreground either, it's a very common grey plastic garbage can.

I must admit I was in the fake crowd and was finding reasons to convince myself if was fake but one more look snapped me out of it. I think this is a damn big bear.

A few months ago I had a bear rummaging around some boxes in my carport. Weeks prior the warden had set up a trap near by for a bear he estimated at 600lbs and I know it hadn't been caught at this time. Well ef me! It wasn't fully on it's hind legs and it's head was only inches away from the celing. I walked out on the deck above it, for the split second I was looking down it felt like I was inches away from a dinosaur. As it ran past my cars I swear it spine was very close in height to the roof lines. Bears are an almost daily thing at that house but this one gave me the willys.

This is an old story, but this is the first I've heard it.

The bear is hanging funny because it's frozen, that's how it was laying. The pic looks like it might be in a meat locker, the waste can is marked "inedible".

Here is more of the story ~~ Up North Live

Looks real to me, just zoom the camera in a bit, have the lady stand 2m behind the bear and make it LOOK like touching it. Plus she might be under 5ft tall and really small(comparing it to the garbage can makes it look realistic, to me anyways). You can make a fawn look big if you really want to. Now if it is actually fake in this case, oh well. :p

i remember seeing photos of a deere combine pinning a black bear to the ground in bit of a hollow, the tire had it caught. i dont know if its related to this story or not though
