BEAR PROBLEM?

When I lived in Whitehorse I saw snares work great but you need the proper trigger device. Renewable resources up there had a type of trigger that would throw a 1/4 inch cable up the bears leg 8-10 inches and hold him there. Generally they used a 10 - 12 inch diameter tree for the snare. But I do agree with others in shoot him. Problem solved

I'd also consider the actions of his big white northern cousins at times - some polar bear have been known to try to break into houses. Maybe this one is getting close to that frame of mind. I'm not even close to an expert and maybe way off base with this suggestion, but (as has been mentioned several times) a bear that isn't afraid of dogs and gunshots and you simultaneously, has got to be a worry.
Bait him and shoot him, imo.

You have done due dilligence
Next time you see him up close
You take care of business

No more second guessing OK

PS: I'm pissed that you sold your store.

Man, that bear is going to get you if you are not carefull.

What are you thinking of shooting it with? I would shoot from the house and hit it in the head (brain). If you are a good shot and know you can hit the brain go for it. Put him down on the spot from a safe place. If you mess up the shot he could run for you, he already hates the sound of your voice and gun. I would bet my gun safe that if you sting him he will want to come at you. Don't wound him that could be bad too. Be carefull.

once the leaves drop off here,i will pick up any spoor near my residence and track it out.i wont bother with trapping.i am just so busy getting firewood and ####,besides..visibilty is literally 3 or 4 feet in the aspen regen.shame,i have seen 5 grizz on my place and never had a problem.he threw 2 false charges at me,just acting on instinct,so i am not angry and i hope he dies off well.for such occasions i have a short barreled .338 with a long eye relief 2.5 x scope i had custom built after running into big brown bear in thick bush north of pink mountain.my work carry gun is a short rifle sighted beretta automatic scattergun loaded with 6 3 inch,1 oz slugs.i will post some pictures of him when im done.richard, the guy who bought the store is actually a good guy and probably will do well because he will bring alot of after market stuff that i wouldnt carry.i was shooting myself in the foot not carrying communist chinese #### because 9 out 10 people dont care if its real or not.peace

I have not yet hunted bear, but I can say that you have given him the chance to gitty up on out. So option A didn't work, time for plan B, as in BOOM  A bear that is too confortable around you, your dogs and your house needs to be taken care of...before it's too late. It be great if you could tranq. him, cage him and then relocate him like on TV, but hey, TV is full of s@#$ I would bait him and take a good shooting position on high grounds (like the roof if possible). Good luck and please send pics when you put him down :)

Make a clearing near your house if you have to and when he's back in the area, bait him and put him down.

+1 This is the right thing to do, imho. Don't fool around.

I hope it turned out well.

It's like that cheesy movie with Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins...

It kinda reminds me of the one with John Candy...urr.. The great outdoors?

In any case, solve the problem the same way you would solve any other.
2 to the chest and 1 to the head.
