:D well i took the_big_mike and his friend out today to do a little scouting for bear we saw a few scat piles one that was REALLY fresh a couple of tracks in the mudd no acctual bear sightings i think i caught a glimpes of one as we past a bog that was kinda hidden by some trees the one i stopped at after the tire stop guys LOL. anyway all in all we had a good time i think they learned a few new things and looks like i will have some buddies out for opening day of bear season in the fall Woohoo. well i brought my .303 out to sight in and let his friend take a few shots with to get a feel for it and i brought my wifes shotgun with the pistol grip to try out and keep handy "just in case" anyway i learned the bloody and painfull reason why you DO NOT hold a pistol grip shotgun like a regular stock and close to your face LOL the steel endcap jammed into my chin just below my lip and left a nice gash ont he inside of my mouth and loosened a few teeth LOL time for a trade in LOL. well ont he way out we did see a nice first year buck with 3.5" velvet covered spikes i got a couple of pics when i finish the roll in my disposable camera i will post them anyway guys i hope you had fun and look forward to getting together again LOL

;D great fun

LOL that pistol grip shotgun surprised me:D .. I wasnt expecting it to jump so high! I was surprised on how knowledgeable you were about tracks, rubbings and you had a keen eye for the scat ;D

It was a great fun and I sure as hell learned alot.. I'm glad you'll let us newbies come hunt with you during the fall bear season -- its obvious that we both have alot to learn.

theres only one way to overcome the newbie syndrome and it just so happens to be the same way you learn things, by getting out there and doing it lol:D besides if we dont pass on what we have learned to the next one in line then the traditions and heritage will go the way of the dodo and we cant have that happening

Sounds like "three" new guys to me....:p
Sorry S/G... but this was just too funny to let go by... have you never read any pistol grip shotgun threads yet:confused:
Just curious... what firearms have you used to shoot bears so far?

Ya, Thanks alot for bringing us out SignGuy.
I definetly had a good time and I hope we can do it again some time (minus the shotgun ordeal) I definetly want to start getting out into the bush a little more

like i said you guys are welcome to come anytime with me as well if you just want to go by yourselves the road doesnt start to get real razy till a little ways in so you grand am should be good to get you to at least the first bog near the road LOL
edit to add: i am working on a new recipe for attractent scent hopefully i can have at least a close to finished batch before the fall opener that we can try out
PS if there are any profesional or avid bear hunters that do alot of bear hunting please pm me
when i get the scent finished i will be wanting to send samples to get reviews from people

Signguy... Careful with the shotgun... With all the pop you drink you can't afford to smack your chops with the butt of a gun... he he he...

Cheers
Jay
P.S. Glad to see some newbies getting out!!! Go get em!!!
