Bear season opens April 1 in BC.....

My friend wants one.. If I go with him, it's an 1895 marlin in 45-70. 420gr hard cast flat point at 1700 is bear medicine. They can go higher but I still want to enjoy shooting it and there is really no need.

Just to be different, I'm going to try with a Russian SVT-40.
I've taken bear before with a Rem 700 in 7mm RemMag, and also with a Brno 602 in 458 WinMag, so this will be a change.

probably snow shoes, April the first on Vancouver Island and most of the island is recieving snow this morning. Oh and a 30-06 in snow camo :D

Bear season opens today in Alberta too, but we have too much snow right now to bother. Once it warms up a bit I'll be taking my M70 .338 out.

The earlist I have ever seen a black bear is April 28 so I'm not rushing out anywhere hunting I will be in the Kootenay's around that time so will be keeping my eyes open for a big black if it isn't big enough I won't shoot.

I'm using either a T/C Contender carbine in 375JDJ 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps or 45-70 300gr Barnes X or Alfa Lafrank SP @ 1950fps for all my spring grizzly/black bear hunting this year.

Like that eh?

Woke up this morning and like WTF? :D

Oh and I'm probably not hunting Bear this year, but if so I'd take the 300 win mag.
