The City of Vancouver has passed a bylaw regulating bear spray. The change is in response to the increase of random violent stranger attacks in the city. The majority of these attacks involving bear spray were youth. The regulation change is already in effect and the changes are listed below.

- Sale of bear spray is prohibited to anyone under the age of 19.
- Retailers are required to keep a record of bear spray sales for up to 12 months.
- Bear spray can not be on display and must be locked up in a spot that is not accessible to the public.

A screen shot below to show the data that we need to record.

*New shotgun/lever action scabbards are coming soon. More detail on that later*

They should be handing it out free to vulnerable people on the transit lines... or better yet, personal pocket sized versions for defense against 2 legged predators and crazies.

Maybe lay of the trans rights are human rights "issue" for a few seconds and focus on the fact that access to personal protection tools are human rights when it comes to self defence.

What ... government being absolutely cringe ... say it ain't so.

Won't deal with the complete #### show that is mental health ... but we will restrict EVERYONE's ability to get tools to non-lethally deal with someone who was the perpensity to do harm ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Edit: Thanks for the heads ups ISG

Nothing new. Many other cities already do this.

Clearly it's new as the bylaw just passed, saying nothing new because it exists somewhere else is a stretch.

I guess when Vancouver catches up to Portland and Sanfran as to the amount of human feces on the sidewalk we will also to be able to claim that it is "nothing new"

Seems like a slippery slope towards a progressive s h i t hole to me.

Criticizing the government.

They already did that the other day with the censorship bill.

Just like always more regulations to make it safer for the bad guys to attack. "don't worry, we are making it safer for you by making more rules that the people making it unsafe already don't follow"

Do the wiener tuckers actually believe this S**t?

Some places in Vancouver have been taking personal info for years when buying bear spray. This doesn't seem to be any different than what I've seen happening already in a lot of stores.

Chris.
