Usually every year once the snow flys i have not seen any bears out, this year was different.

While out looking for whitetail and elk this morning i came across a bear that was down the riverbank, he was not far from a place where he cause trouble and i had a bear tag so down went the 350-400 lb bear.

just wondering if it was common for them to still be out with snow on the ground.

No idea about the big bears, but I know boar blackies will stay out as long as its warm (for the most part). Sows will go down earlier.

Ive even heard of boars getting up in a "January thaw" on a very warm day. Bears are not actually true hibernators.

last week end we saw a fairly "young" grizzly feeding on fish in a river and ice and snow where there. so seems when there is food there is bear. in the same time a week before we saw a black bear making is den and it was not even coming on the call .... so with bears there is no real answer.
