Typically if it's coming from the factory that way it can be NR.Isn't this Restricted due to the 25" OAL? Or are we safe?
Ready for the Next Step
The Bearās Leg also offers a straightforward path to a Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR) conversion where legally permitted and with approved ATF paperwork. With no need for cutting, threading, or permanent modification, it is already configured for those who want to start with a solid factory foundation for a more compact suppressed build.
If sold as a pistol in Canada, yes. But most Mares Leg type designs aren't sold as pistols, most are legally rifles in Canada - Only the 9" Mares Legs are pistols, the 12" ones (which is most of them) are rifles. And these have almost 14" barrels.Once a pistol always a pistol.
.357 Magnum / .44 Magnum
For those looking for a more approachable, highly versatile setup, the pistol-caliber H12 Bearās Leg models...
Don't pity the {non}pistol fooo'Once a pistol always a pistol.
But doesn't the 25" OAL make it a restricted rifle? Even if it's not a pistol, this would be a range toy only.If sold as a pistol in Canada, yes. Judging by the model names they're based on existing Henry Rifle designs, it's not a new action. For example, the H12 Bears Leg is the 357/44mag version:
But the H12 itself isn't a new model, here is but one model based on the h12 action:

Same can be said about the h9 and h10, the 30-30 and 45-70 models. They already exist as rifles. The Bears Leg is a just a rifle without a stock, which is enough to legally be a pistol stateside, but is ALSO enough to legally be a rifle in Canada.
Nope. 26" only applies if it folds, collapses, or otherwise. But doesn't the 25" OAL make it a restricted rifle? Even if it's not a pistol, this would be a range toy only.
Here's hoping it gets imported with an SBR stock. I'd definitely get a 14" 45-70 from Henry for up country hunts.
I would take 2I take one if they ever come in to our shores!
The mare's leg comes with a shoulder stock and is not marketed as a pistol, unlike this "bear's leg pistol".If sold as a pistol in Canada, yes. https://g4cgunstore.com/product/chiappa-la322-bandit-bootleg-22lr-12-wood/I was thinking about the Chiappa mare's leg.
I guess the shoulder stock is what that makes them non restricted.
Every gun sold without a shoulder stock, with an overall lenght of less than 26 " was categorized as a pistol by the RCMP lab.
I remember Rossi sold 23" AOL pistol grip break action shotgun. They were sold as non-restricted, and then the RCMP changed it for restricted.
Around 2008, there where people here posting videos of them shooting remington 870 modified with dlask 12" barrels and pistol grip. Those where supposed to be non-restricted. RCMP ruled they were pistols.
