Black and white swirly is in the new McMillan Hunter pattern, quite similar to the Sako Hunter, but fits the Rem 700 action better. Added the Euro-30 and also had Guntech cut and crown the barrel from 26" to 23"...

8lbs 2oz, me like...:D

McMillan's pistol grips certainly crowd the trigger guard, so you may want to install a knuckle deflector behind the trigger guard, as I had to on my .375. Still, the stock looks great, and there is no question as to the quality of the product. Nicely done.

Nice. I like 23" to 26" just about any day of the week these days. I like the look of the scope. Looks small and low, very nice. Look out moose.

There are lots of patterns with a more open grip, for those that prefer it...

I've fired this rifle several times with a different colour stock of the same pattern and had no issues with the grip location. I like this pattern because it is essentially identical to my Sako 75 stocks, fits me perfectly, and comes up/holds like a dream...:D

It must balance nicely with the 23" bbl. What's the LOP?

Balances perfect for me, and the LOP is 13.75"

Do they make a stock for a 700 MTN Rifle with detach Mag? I really want one of these stocks.

They sure do...You pick the pattern you want, ie: Rem Mountain Rifle pattern, and they'll inlet the barrel contour and bottom metal for whatever you have...

However, on a mountain rifle I'd go with the EDGE filled stock, which is the lightweight graphite one. But it can only be done in painted finish, grey, brown, black or olive. The swirly stocks like the one above are a standard fill and are heavier (not a lot though) and it's better to have the lightweight mtn rifle

Hey Boomer,

Check out the Remington Sporter.

http://www.mcmfamily.com/mcmillan-stocks-hunting-stock-list.php?subnav=branch2d

Its the only stock I run (not in the Ghey blue).
My 8'-0" pound (ready to shoot) 416 never got close to my knuckle. The stock previous to the Remington Sporter smashed a 1/4" chunk of bone off...So I know of the pain you speak!
Neither has my 375Ultra.

FWIW Its a very (poker) straight stock and I would assume pretty much useless for iron sights.
