Bed time story - Remington

Funny, after posting this video I found much hate toward Remington on US gun blogs. I like my 1911 R1E but maybe it's only haters that post down there. Some people don't like their claim as "America's most trusted gun maker..." Weird how some Americans are not patriotic or supportive of their own industry.

I am sure they agree with what Remington "stands for" and are happy they have many gun makers in the USA to choose from...

But Remington is NO WHERE near the "prestige" they used to have, sell outs, many, many quality control issues and so on. Why do you think they older Rems are the ones most sought after?

Sadly tho...many of Americans classic gun makers are on this route...cheaper projects for money money, quality is going down the drain.

No one wants/will buy a "new" Marlin lever gun...they pretty much do not work out of the box...the first and last "new" Remington I bought was an 870 Tactical which cost me close to $500...bought it when I turned 18 (now almost 5 years ago) when and got my PAL, my first gun...and it rusted to #### on me within 3 hours of using it during a LIGHT RAIN...inside the barrel and out. What a disappointment. I now only buy/want older models from them.

Not too different from what happened with US car makers. They were at one time considered great automobiles until the companies started caring more about the bottom line than the products/customers.... then they proceeded to get destroyed by Japanese, German, even Korean manufacturers so badly that their government had to bail most of them out. Hopefully the US car companies learned their lesson (for now) and a lot of them are doing much better by focusing again on quality.

Similar situation in the firearms industry as people are going Swiss, Czech, Austrian, etc instead of American though I understand a bailout likely won't happen or be needed in the firearms industry. It kinda would be nice if a few of them were on the brink of failure and had to completely overhaul how they do things.

Domino's pizza did the same fairly recently as well lol

Sometimes life is kind of funny. I'm glad I own a few decent American firearms. I'm equally happy that the bullets (Scenars) or ammunition (Lapua/SK) to feed them are sourced from places other than the USA, in it's paranoid Post-911 era.

Got two R1's in blue. Love 'em! I lucked out as both have decent triggers out of the box and tight slide-to-frame fit. Not so a SS R1 I traded for my 2nd blued model. It rattled. Lotta gun for the bucks.

Shot one against a few higher end 1911's today and kicked some butt.
