Bedding a Mosin?

There's a lot of room between the rear tang and the stock on my 91/30. Would it be worth it to bed the area and what would I use?
 
If there is hard/tight contact between the rear of the action tang and the corresponding stock inletting in a bolt action there is a good probability that the tang will act like a recoil lug and tend to split the stock behind it.
 
Just make sure the recoil lug is bedded against the stock bolt firmly and you can bed the rear of the tang all you want.
No problem cracking the stock then. The tang should not be acting like a recoil lug. They left a gap because the action is loose in the stock, but loose actions in stocks doesn't help accuracy.
 
I can hear it cracking already. Don't do it. Shoot it the way it was shot at nazi's during the war. Sure they missed a few nazis but those were warning shots before the T-34's got there.
 
You will find the stock split behind the rear tang on Mausers, M1903s, M1917s/P14s for the same reason. If the rear tang is in hard contact with the stock you can get some clearance there by either relieving the wood a bit or by shimming behind the recoil lug to move the action forward in the stock somewhat.

This is what I did on my Mosin sniper, made sure everything was tight, then filled the gap, don't think it made any difference though but it hasn't cracked. My biggest accuracy improvement was putting in a Timney trigger, shoots real sweet now.
