Bedding a stutzen ?

Yes, the front attachment for the sling goes around the barrel and through the stock. When you tighten the sling stud it snugs up the band around the barrel . What advantage is there to bedding the action ?

The possible advantage is that proper bedding of the action in the stock will correct any mis-alignment caused by the barrel band. You should be able to ascertain this during the snug up process. How does the rifle shoot? Have you tried shooting it with the barrel band loose or removed?

Bedding the action in an epoxy compound could isolate it from flexing of the wood that might occurr with changes in temperature and/or humidity.

The riffle shoots better then I do, the last time I had it at the range itwas around 1.5" at 200yds. I have never tried loosening off the band but I will give it a try whenever I take it out after paper steaks again. I am sure if I had some sand bags and a bench it would tighten the groups a bit more, but as it is its good enough for hunting. I just though I would throw this out for some recomendations.

The band may actually be helping.

With 1.5 inch groups at 200 yards, I'd be afraid of making it worse, and leave it alone or get a professional to do it. But that's personal - you may have good reason to think you can do it yourself.
