Planning on bedding my SKS action, Not sure what to do about the barrel though... Im designing/making a custom wood stock, so free floating the barrel could be easily doable. BUT do you guys think free floating an SKS barrel will help accuracy ? , or should I do the opposite and bed the barrel so it is tight as well ?????

Bedding the action will help a bit. The best option is to pillar bed at the rear of action with a bolt through the trigger group seat (using the spring hole), and right under the rear sight block. This will require a custom made ring to go around the barrel to secure it to the stock with an adjustable screw. A true floating barrel is not possible with the SKS due to the gas system design. Your better off keeping the barrel band and installing an adjustable tension screw to find the harmonic sweet spot.

Watching all of Tony Ben's excellent M1A bedding videos..... it appears he insures the whole barrel assembly is free of contact with any wood, then pre-loads some tension on the barrel so it contacts the front band thingy tightly, but yet at the same time shims the band at the front with tape so it allows play for harmonics ???! that seems contradicting lol
