I called numerous companies (Bass Pro, Cabellas, Ellwood Epps, Le Baron, Al Simmons, Al Flaherty, and local fiberglass shops) in regards to rifle stock bedding compounds and release agents. Does anyone know of any shops that cary this in the GTA or shops that are within Canada or are willing to ship? I am at struggling to find anything, please any help will be greatly appreciated.

never watched any of barneys videos? JB weld with pam spray or shoe polish as release agent is what i've used.
More expensive is the Devcon from most industrial supply stores.

these 2 will be less likely to be affected by harsh bore cleaner/solvents

JB weld is the cheapest and works well but be sure to dam up every single opening where it could flow out. Its a thinner viscosity than devcon or acraglas gel and because its a slow setting epoxy it will drain out from where you want it if it has a way out. The others are thicker and stay in place better so its not as much of an issue. Thicker compounds are better for bedding rifles like the M1/M14/Mini 14/30 etc where it is difficult to fully dam up any escape routes. JB weld is great for bolt actions. A tub of plumbers putty can be had at any hardware store for a couple bucks. A small tub is all you need. Play doh works too. For release agent I've always used gunstock wax from Birchwood Casey. Bedding is about all I use it for. Any paste wax will work, so will grease and many other things. Watch a few videos and get everything ready before you start. There isn't much you can mess up that can't be fixed. Even gluing your action into your stock :D

For release agent, neutral shoe polish or furniture paste wax works great. FYI, paste wax also doubles as a great sealer against rusting and static cling.

JB Weld works great but it's a bit runny if you use it immediately. You can let it sit for about 15-20mins if you want it to be a little thicker. Don't take shortcuts in your stock prep work.

I use Mother's Carnuba Wax.

Wax your action, just as you would wax your car. Put in on fairly heavy and use a small brush to push it into any holes or voids. After it dries use a paper towel to wipe off the excess and buff the action, you can leave heavy wax in the holes, non important areas, etc.

This not only makes for a worry free bedding job, it also keeps the tolerances to a minimum vs a brush on type mold release agent.

Don't forget to wax the recoil lug and a good portion of the barrel to cover any seepage past the recoil lug area. If you have a barrel nut, make sure that gets waxed completely as well.

I've been using Devcon and neutral shoe polish for years with stunning results. Honestly from my experience and research neutral shoe polish yields a far better finished product then any specific release agent I've tried or seen. Just rub a thin layer on all the parts you don't want the epoxy to stick to and your golden. As far as the epoxy all the rifle builders I know use Devcon, it is expensive but the final product is worth it.

You can get 1 lbs container of Devcon 10110 steel putty from a place called Motion Industries and they have several locations around Toronto. Retails for about $60. A pound can bed 4 or 5 rifles easily.

I ended finding a place local that carries Marine Tex (as recommended by an individual on this forum). Stuff was easy to use and any residue just sanded off nicely. I have not shot the rifle yet but this weekend will be the true test, so far I am happy with the results.

I have used JB, Devcon, and Marine Tex.
I have started to prefer marine tex personally. Easy to mix and use, the consistency seems to be about perfect for me.
Local power sports shop carries it.

A friend just got 2 containers of ACRAGLAS from Ellwood Epps on Thursday so I doubt they're out. They're one of our sponsors.

I finished one of my rifles and used Kiwi shoe polish as a release, surprisingly I still had binding issues. Any other tips or use a designated release agent? Not sure if I just didn't put enough on or should I be using something else?

X reload sells acurglass and cabelas sells bed rock kit. It can be found online in their catalog. When I was looking for it in store nobody there new what I was talking about. It came with a release agent but I used Pam cooking spray. I worked great and I had no problems with it at all.

Yeah, that happens, it's quite normal for the action to stick in the stock. If you put the stock & action in the freezer overnight, it should come apart a lot easier. The metal will shrink enough to make separation easier.
