So I started to work on my Savage Bmag HBSS 17 WSM stock the other day. I used a dremel to open up the stock so I could insert a 3/8" threaded steel rod in the channel. I then used two tubes of JB Weld to hold the rod in place as well as stiffen and centre the stock so it would no longer touch on the left hand side. See two pics.

I have now used Devcon 10110 to bed the first 2" and the three rings of the barrel. Things are setting up now and I will post a picture once I take things apart.

Hopefully this will make the stock not so flimsy and help with the accuracy. Time will tell!

Here is the stock in it final bedding. Fully free floated and ready to shot 1/4" groups at 200 yards. No really.

Good start. At the very least the added weight will help. I'd recommend bedding the rear tang if not the whole action too, doesn't seem like only bedding the barrel will do much.

Thanks PGW. We'll see what it does. Rabid while I agree with what you are saying this action makes it very difficult to bed anymore than what I have done. Will try it out as is.
