Bedding the receiver alone won't be of much benefit. You need to bed the rifle to 1/2 way up the barrel to the ferrule. If you dont you're wasting your time becuase it's not designed to ever have the potential of a floating barrel. Make sure to remove the bayonet, cleaning rod and cleaning kit as well.
^That is my take as well. You have the forend ferrule, the gas block, the bayonet/front sight mount, gas block housing, cleaning rod & sling all pinned onto / hanging from the barrel. It was not designed to be a Remington 40X BR from the get - go.
