Bedding or not???

I just put a Boyds stock on a Sweedish 6.5x55 M38 and not I am thinking should I bother to bed it or not.
I am interested in minute of deer accuracy with a 300 yard absolute max with a good tree to lean against.
Is bedding realy necessary, or is it just the thing to do?
As yet I haven't shot it, and of course when I take it to the range and accuracy is the pits bedding will be a no brainer.
For now assuming it will shoot well is there a gain to be had or should I just shoot and see.

If you like to tinker and do that sort of thing. Why not? If you don't want to be bothered I bet 99 to 1 that your Swede will shoot minute of deer without it.
 
Don't ever bed it until you shoot it... sometimes you hit on the perfect cradle for the action... zero your optic and do some load testing... if you are not happy with the results, then bed the action (and maybe barrel). I have seen on occasion where bedding hurt the accuracy... but generally bedding is a good thing, particularly for consistency... be sure to pay attention to the action bolt torque and the sequence used to settle the action into the stock... these all introduce unique stresses which can affect both POI and accuracy potential.
