Is there any good article out there on bedding?

Also if you were going to send a rifle out to be bedded what all would they need as far parts? I would assume the complete rifle minus say the scope and other accessories.?

Thanks

I have tried bedding a couple of times and it has always worked out for me. but let me tell you if you watch a pro after you do it yours will look pretty crude.
If you send it out then you will need to send the gun complete minus extras"bipod scope rings" Good luck

Bed your Cooey for practice. learn to use duct tape to give clearance where you want clearance and plastercine dams to stop bedding compounp from flowing too far.

Don't forget to spray mold release on the action screws.

if rifle does not want to come apart, leave it in a freezer for a few days, then try.

There have been some very good discussions on this forum and in the Gunsmithing section. Google will help too.

If sending out, send the complete rifle minus rings and scope. Scope bases will not matter. Any accessory should be left home too.

If I can help, let me know...

I have also been doing alot of reading on bedding and am planning on giving it a try on my old Rem 788 .222. Devcon 10110 "Plastic Steel® Putty" seems to be the best material.

Does anyone know where you can pick this up in the Toronto area?

Devcon can be picked up at any Acklands Granger outlet.

Marine Tex can be bought at almost any boating repair shop.

JB weld can be purchased at any Lordco or Princess Auto.

All 3 make great bedding compounds.

I have used Marine Tex and JB Weld and I have a tub of Devcon to try on my next bedding job just to see if one really is better than the other.

Thanks! I have never heard of Acklands-Grainger, and I got one in my town to boot!
