Beginner in need of iron sights help

Of course, a fella could switch to two piece Parker Hale bases and RAHS3 rings, which would give you a rear site.... That would have been the preferred approach back in the 60's.
^^This - the "last" sporter conversion of a Lee Enfield No.4 that I intend to do, has the Parker Hale A21 rear sight which is a direct "drop-in" replacement for the original military rear sight - needs the "ears" still on the receiver, the rear sight "axle", the spring and piston that was underneath the rear sight - it is probable that the two front holes that are drilled and tapped for that Weaver mount will accept the Parker Hale A20 front base, then you need Parker Hale RAHS.3 rings to mount a 1" body scope to those base blocks - I am told that "SportMatch" rings will work also, but I have never tried them - for sure "modern" Weaver, Warne, etc. rings will NOT work or fit. Most people will find it to be nearly impossible to find A21, A20 base blocks and RAHS.3 rings any more - they have not been made for decades - the bases came in 2 widths - the rear base in "A" width (circa 19.5 mm wide) has "A21" cast into it, and the "B" width (circa 17 mm wide) does not have anything cast into it - both will have like a "battle sight" rear aperture on them - you need to use the high "RAHS" rings or "RBHS" rings for the scope to clearance that aperture sight - some of us have filed off the aperture sight which allowed us to use Low height RALS rings on that set-up, but then you also have to remove or grind off the recoil stud for the front ring, since the A20 front base does not accept a Parker Hale ring with a recoil stud. Most RALS ring pairs come with recoil studs on BOTH rings - I have never seen a B20 front base - I have no clue what they look like or how they work. I have never installed the narrower "B" width system. (B21 rear base; B20 front base; B width rings)

This is that rifle with A21 rear base, A20 front base and RALS.3 rings:

Even with 18 1/2"barrel from muzzle to front of receiver, that is not a particularly "light weight" rifle.
