Beginner over/under sub $1000

I actually grabbed a 26” from them. I’m happy with it on my 870, and it’s fantastic for sporting clays. It’s just not quite fast enough for skeet. I’m also getting some cheek slap, but I’m 99% sure that’s because it’s not a long enough LOP on it

I started out with a 870 fixed full choke. After a little I got a second barrel ( new take off from Dlask arms 28” with choke tube, just checked their site they are $189.99 includes a extended mod choke tube). As long as the 870 fits you, I would invest in a second barrel. I think that would be your best bet with your budget.

I shot the 870 till I saved more cash then went to a 1100. Sold the 1100 and got a over under. Should have kept with the 1100 as each has a different poa and each has a new learning curve.

As for the lop kick eez has pad spacers cheap. I think there is a guy in lake country that sells them.

They’re beautiful looking guns that’s for sure. Congrats on that acquisition. I hope all goes well on it’s first time out!

I ended up picking up a Churchill 206 silver from gotenda for 799$ price is back up to 849$ . Gun looks awesome. Gonna finally shoot it next weekend. But looks great for the price..

Just picked it up today! I’m super happy with it. It’s a Cortona Grande. Absolute gem. It’s definitely seen some use, but is still a beauty and mechanically sounds. I was only able to put two rounds through it to make sure it works. Looking forward to getting it to the range!

How did the new to you gun work out. I am brand new to trap shooting and enjoyed all the suggestions here.

The Akkar is actually a much better gun than its price would signal. Its a great gun if you really want to grt into clay shooting on the cheap. Just beware, in under a year you will be addicted and looking to spend way too much money. I know this, because I just spent about 2 years university on a custom Longthorne.

Longthorne makes wonderful guns but I'm curious as to why you chose them over the usual work horses such as Kreighoff, Perazzi, Kolar, Blaser, etc.

Their barrels, and I had one in my hand at IWA when I was in the UK. Just kinda fell in love with them and wanted something a little less ordinary. Right gun at the right time. Was celebrating, could afford it (after selling a few guns that are now part of the OIC). The planets aligned and the Hesketh was the prettiest girl st the bar.

Their fitting process is amazing. I was impressed. I’ll definitely be showing it off when it finally gets here

For 840$ tax in for a new gun. I was impressed. I hear you On upgrading it will come. I

I bought one for my nephew in 20 guage. It’s his first shotgun (I previously bought him a Ruger .22 which is now prohibited, ffs). Its accurate, its balanced really well, points easily. The extractors in it work really well, especially considering it’s a “Cheap” over/under. My nephew killed two pheasant our first day out, so he adores it.
I’ve considered buying one in 12 guage for those days I can’t use my Citori or upcoming Hesketh (when its muddy and wet and cold, you don’t want to bring out guns that cost thousands). I could use one of my semi-autos for thst, but really, ive always been a shotgun guy, so I want more.

Can you elaborate on why the barrels impressed you so much? I don't know that much about them is why I ask.
