beginner precision rifle... What to choose?

As for your 'precision' reloading being key.... again.. bulls**t. In the BR world, yes... it's important. But the VAST majority of people who view this forum don't compete, and have no intentions of doing so. You can still sit down with a box of bought ammo, decent rifle, a boxa' beer, and blast away. And still achieve MOA, or vary close too... R:d:
Precision doesn't always mean formal competition with top dollar having to be spent.

Is it helpful to say "bulls**t" when you disagree? Are you suggesting that factory ammo is as accurate as reloaded? Is MOA "or vary close too..." your idea of precision? And finally, are you advocating drinking while using firearms?

Rig Pig 69, you've missed the point. The guy said he was on a budget.
Try buying a box or two of factory ammo each weekend and add up the cost over a year. Even if out of 53 weeks he went to the range 25, add up the cost of ammo that,ll shoot well. If you use 1957 Russian surplus then yeah that comes cheaper but buying decent (not necessarily match but decent), good shooting ammo cost a fair bit of money.

But a cheap press a box of bullets , primers, brass (.223 last ages) and a lb of powder load till the lb is gone and compare the cost of shooting now.

If he does this in a year he's got a new scope.

First time I realized how expensive shooting was when I found I bought a box of .357 magnums for a pistol at 18/21$ a box of 50 and later learned I could load a box of 100 for $5 my self and do a better job.

If the guy only wants to shoot 50 rounds a year then hell who cares buy match stuff.

I am about to purchase the Stevens 200 XS7 .223 caliber for around $400.00 This ugly rifle can fire 1" groups at 100 yards plus it can be accurized on a budget. The trigger pull can be modified a bit on the rifle also. I may get tighter groups being that I reload my own cartridges with 69gr. Matchking bullets.

WTF? Stevens = Savage, XS7 = Marlin

Sorry. Got my models mixed up. The Stevens is the model 200 in .223 cal. The Marlin XS7 comes in .243 caliber and up. I do wish the Marlin XS7 would come in .223 as the stock is a bit nicer. Wishin don't make it so though.

I already checked on how to reload, doesn't look this complicated (just need to tune your balance/powder) but as of yet i didn't found any good place to get raw material (bullet, brass, etc) (as of yet i just have 7.62x25 and .40sw) and 7.62x25 have tons of surplus ammo so not really useful... can have .40sw for 12$/box so i don't think i could do better with reloads? one that i would like to reload would be 7.62x54 because i can't have any for less than 20$+ a box of 20.... so do you guys know any good places for reloading material? (bullet, brass, etc)?
Thank you very much

Once your set up for reloading and get the feel for it, it's not difficult. I am actually new to reloading myself and so far have only loaded .223 caliber. It's neat making your own ammo and not having to depend on commercial stuff which in my case usually means settling for standard 55 grain bullets. I am looking forward to trying out my 69 grainers. I think I am pretty close to 43 cents a round.

Where do you get your stuff? (bullet/dies/etc?)

That, my friend, is a good question to ask. I got my reloading equipment by ordering off the net. ( Lee 50th. Anniversary package ) I couldn't get my dies from the same source so I got them from another site. I got my first bullets and gunpowder from a local hunting store. My primers were a ##### to get ahold of because I wanted a specific primer and it seemed that all the net stores were out of stock all the time so I got them from another guy on CGN. I find that anything in .223 caliber at least can be hard to get sometimes so when something is available I make sure I buy a bunch. I am getting short on primers right now but I have a couple of sources that may have them in stock. (CCI #400 small rifle primers) Grab them when you can.

Very good question and sound advice here. I buy my bullets, brass and dies from Mysticplayer on this site. Jerry is great to deal with, his service is excellent and prices are very good. I have also bought cast bullets from Ben Hunchak on here and brass and pistol primers from Henry Nierychlo on here. So far I am buying my rifle primers and all powder from WSS in Calgary, but I would prefer an easier place to deal with that has more consistent stock available. If I could find a good online powder dealer I would avoid WSS altogether.
