Bought a 12 bore gun a while back as a project/wall hanger. Sort of gun widely imported and sold during the latter part of the 19th century. Complete, although the upper ramrod pipe was detached, resoldered it. The gun was inexpensive. Dirty. All external steel is evenly rusted, pitted. Not deep pitting, just very even coverage. What the heck. Didn't expect much, but wiped out the bores, and then gave them a quick polish. When the gun had been left to deteriorate, the bores must have been clean, because they are quite respectable. Needed new nipples, had to dig out the old ones. .265-28s are a good fit. Made a new sear for the left lock, so that half and full #### would be positive.
Took it out yesterday, sandbagged it, fired both barrels using a string, then tried it from the shoulder. Darn thing is a decent shooter.
