Hi kids,
Trying to locate or find out what length the clearing rod would be for a Belgian Mauser. Barrel is just short of 24”, so is a 12” or slightly longer the correct length? Is there any sources for authentic or pseudo ones?
Also, did they use a leather sling or were they that heavy duck woven material for which the proper name eludes me just now.

Been chatting with a guy regarding it, there is a faint 30 on the top of the rear bridge and given the 23.25” bbl it seems to be narrowed down to a 1930 or a 1935. So a 12” rod or 12.5”
As to the sling seems to be very little info or period pictures available
 
Get a K98 cleaning rod, odds are you won't find the specific rod for your rifle, everyone lists them as K98 or Mauser cleaning rods when they sell them. The Germans and the Belgians both made metric rifles so there's a good chance the threading will be the same. You could always get any old milsurp cleaning rod, cut it to lenght and re-thread, which is what I've done in the past for my Mausers.
 
If there is a notch in the receiver ring above the chamber, it is for the .30/'06 cartridge, which is a bit longer than the 8x57.
If you dismount the stock, you can measure from the threaded insert for the rod in the stock, to where it should end under the barrel.
 
If you dont mind having copy not orginal there is company in US called Landser Outfitters. They are making mauser cleaning rods in any sizes. I got rod for my belgian mauser 15.5 inch long. The rod is not very expensive but shipping is. Rod was 14 usd and shipping was 23 usd. I still have this rod as i bought orginal in europe.
