I have seen Copy's of Smith n Wesson and others and there is very little info available on them. Are they a clone close enuf that you could swap OEM Parts into them or are they a breed of there own. Were they of a decent quality to make a good BBQ shooter.

it is my understanding with any of the clone guns , that you are on your own when it comes to parts , as in your going to make or have them made for you .

with that said , even with a original gun that you can get parts for .... you may have to end up making the parts anyway .

What Burnt Servo said. Belgian guns, the copies were made by the hundreds of thousands in many hundreds or thousands of little family owned machine shops cranking out guns. The plus is these private made obscure guns were required by law to be proofed in order to sell on the market, that's great and I love Belgian made revolvers due to that aspect but it does not help in the parts and maintenance aspect.

Again like Burnt Servo said, even with the big name producers, it's possible from gun to gun that you will require to fit parts with a lot of personal work.

From my personal experience, the concept of parts interchangeability is laughable at best.

As has been mentioned above, you should not expect much easy swap out parts interchangeability between any black powder antique guns, especially ones made by small shop different manufacturers who just copied the outward look and basic operation of the big name gun makers. Even among the big name makers like S&W and early Colts they had a lot of hand fitting of parts to complete a gun before about 1900.

As for your next question, all are double proofed by law unlike some other countries makers and they range in quality from basic safe shooters of somewhat rough appearance to excellent quality guns of superior appearance and function. Both Colt and S&W had their guns made under license in Belgium, and most recognise these companies as selling high quality guns.

Belgian made S&W Russian model clone. The top of the barrel is marked “ Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass. Patents. Ap.8.55 Jul.6.59.Nov.24.63”. Under the left grip, it is marked “MB”, the bottom of the grip frame is marked with a crown over “M1”. The left side of the frame is marked “10”, the cylinder and star are marked “18”. The back of the cylinder has a star over “M” and an “ELG” star in an oval. The right side of the barrel is marked with a star over “M”.
