Belgium browning auto 5 issue

Im having issues with my Belgium browning auto 5 12 gauge; it will not eject shells at all, even light loads so it is no effectively a single shot.
The shotgun was taken to a gunsmith before it was given to me, bored out for steel shot and the rings were "played with"; it came with I taped steel ring removed.
Found an owners manual online and the steel tapered ring is important in both light and heavy settings; in light it goes against the receiver before the spring with the taper facing the action, and on heavy setting it goes on after the spring, before the bronze ring with the steel sprung ring over top of the bronze.
I cleaned the whole tube where the spring cycles, and it was a bit dirty. When the bronze ring is out of the sprung steel ring rhat goes around it to tension it the bronze ring slides the tube easily; with the steel ring back over the bronze ring, it is extremely tight and I have to really force it on to get it over the threads; Im wondering if this is correct, and if not this may be contributing to it not cycling.
My question is, should the bronze ring with the steel ring over top slide the tube easily, or should it have lots of friction? (and yes I lubed up the tube nicely after cleaning it with brake cleaner).

I would go back to said gunsmith and get the missing ring and then set them up as per Browning. If a particular ring is not fitting on the tube then I’d agree that’s probably what is arresting your action. Should be lots of friction ring automatic 5 diagrams on line to help you set it up.

Be sure to keep some oil on the tube .The Browning Auto 5 guns that I have had, all needed some oil on the tube to work well.

Sorry about the above.Just read the last part of your post and I read you are using some lube on the tube.

Is it magnum or light? Maybe the wrong main spring? My 3” doesn’t cycle light loads when set up for magnum loads but my light cycles everything in the heavy setting
