Belt fed guns?

the one i saw in g@a 10+ years ago was a semi auto( i think). My appoligies for the term (useless) unpractical perhaps is a better word. The cooool factor is so far off the chart its not even funny. I think when anyone sees one the first response is always i want one. I know i would love to have one.:50cal:

The Tippman company was really big into making 22lr gatling gun replica's with huge magazines. I know that for sure. I don't know about anything belt fed though. It's possible, I know they made some pretty wild and amazing things in their shop. The firearms company took a back seat when their paintball gear took off. I know they sold the Tippman name along with all the paintball aspects of their company to a company called K2. I have no idea what became of their firearms company.

I have never seen a Tippman Gatling gun but they made a bunch of miniature Browning designs.

The Tippman company that makes paint ball markers today is I think run by the son after dad died/retired.

The Tippman miniature Browning design and tooling was bought by Lakeside Machine. They still make them as semi-auto in limited numbers and every now and then sell parts kits for home machinists to finish their own if you don't want to pony up for a complete gun.

Lakeside also makes .22 belt fed rifles and .22 uppers for the AR15. They also sell a 500 round .22 belt called the "brick belt" as mentioned by others.

I've never taken my M1919A4 gopher shooting. Maybe I'll try it this year.

I got to use a full auto C9/M249 to rodent hunt in Texas years ago. I was using machine gunner burst principles and the fella that owned it was like "Not that way. Here you just hold down the trigger and walk it into them".

Lotta .223 went out that day lol.

Belt-fed .22....we can all dream...

Having seen one in person, they're a little engineering marvel.

The amount of energy that a .22 generates that can be used to operate this gun is small, and with the amount of movement inside that has to be A) Timed properly, and B) set in motion concurrently while not jamming or running out of oomph, it's impressive to see what Lakeside has done.

It is, a marvel of engineering.

$300? I think that amounts to 200 rounds lol.

I was picking up crates of 1750 rounds already on belts for $262 at Wolverine's not that many years ago. I bought as much as I could afford back then, and still have enough that a newspaper article would call it a cache.

I never took it out shooting last year, as I actually burned out my 8mm barrel. The last 250 round belt I put through her keyholed every round at 100 meters.

I have a new barrel I am picking up at the Easter show in Calgary, so this summer, I should be able to let her rock again.

The belt loophole is great. It is so nice not to have to stop every 5 or ten rounds, and during a milsurp competition the gun can be very impressive.

From a fixed position yes. Very poorly balanced for 3 gun tho. At least mine is with an A6 butt on it. That M230 kit from TNW is something I should look into, less the barrel. Doubt I can get one up here tho, due to the state department.

I also run 8x63mm in mine and if you could PM me with a source for a spare barrel that would be great.

The match I use it on requires only a single movement from one firing point, through an obstacle course, and onto a second firing position. But it is a chore to move the steaming hot gun with tripod and the remaining half of the belt. I never much liked the M1919 in the A6 configuration....way too long and not particularly accurate. I will take the extra weight of the tripod for it's accuracy anyday.

Afraid I don't have any source for the 8mm barrels. I found mine thru the EE...unused and still requiring chambering to the 8X63. Fortunately I picked up the chamber reamer back in the heyday of the 8mm swede craze.

I find mine works very well off the tripod with the A6 butt attached. Looking to scope it this summer.

Well for a spare barrel I wonder if anyone makes a heavy enough .323 blank to start with.

You could likely line a shot out or different caliber barrel as well. My original intent was to line an old .308 barrel with a turned down 8mm mauser barrel and then rechamber it for the swede ammo. That was until a bunch of the 8mm barrels started to appear in the country. The mauser barrel now sits, unloved, in the gunroom waiting for some other project to come along.

I prefer mobility myself :D
