Belt fed guns?

I was picking up crates of 1750 rounds already on belts for $262 at Wolverine's not that many years ago. I bought as much as I could afford back then, and still have enough that a newspaper article would call it a cache.
.

Well I have a friend that would gladly buy 8mm for the same price or even pay 25% more as that price is way out of date.

Mine was already transported to Manitoba, and that was also with taxes in. Seems to me pre tax price was $230 per crate of 1750, which also included a bonus 70 rounds of tracer.

There is some on the EE now along with a gun. The ammo is listed at $700 per thou, with first dibs going to the buyer of the gun.

Long way from $230 for 1750.

There is no more at the original price. The story goes that Marstar bought the 8mm not realising it was the 8X63. There are very few guns in the world of that caliber, so they firesaled it. The unbelted stuff was around $80 or $90 per thousand.

Marstar has no more, and there is likely no more stock of it in the world. It really does work well in the 1919 guns, and is already on belts. I can't see anyone selling it for the Marstar price.

The one currently in the EE is a .30-06 not a 8mm of any kind.

I have a spare bolt and barrel for mine in .30-06 but I have yet to use it. I also have enough 8x63mm to burn out the barrel I have long before I run out. I know a guy in the Grande Prairie area that wants $1 a round for 8x63mm. He can keep it at that price.

Which EE is it in?

Too bad we can't get the 7.62X39 conversion out of the US
But I won't be running out of 8X63 any time soon & have spare 8X63 barrel
Not to mention 2 3006 barrels & 1 308 barrel & 2 spare bolts & 308 feed block
I think these belt feds are addicting:D

Ah, I did not notice the 30-06 caliber. I am almost surprised that a guy could find that much 30 cal in this country. Suddenly $700 a thou seems reasonable.

I have both the 30-06 barrel and the 7.62 barrels for mine but I do not foresee they will see any use by me. The 8mm works so well, I would not want to change. I can also see me wearing out my second 8mm barrel before I run out of ammo.

Well once I get to using .30-06 in mine, I'll just reload. .30-06 brass is free at my range during hunting season, and I already got a few 5 gallon buckets of it.

Only got 7 or so .30-06 cloth belts tho. The 8x63mm belts do not hold .30-06 well at all, or vice versa. Tons of feeding issues when using 8x63mm with .30 cal belts.

I have to see about making a mount for mine on my Ford Escape !!

1919 and MG34 are available, no limit belt length.

I take it these were manufactured specifically as semi-auto only for the civilian market?

When were these available from dealers etc, and who has the main supplier?

I realized i've very much missed the boat on ever getting one from a dealer, but am curious about where the semi-only ones in circulation now came from.

The guns were made by TNW in the US and imported into Canada by Marstar. There was also a handful of semi only 50 cals (reported by John as numbering 10, however only 3 are shown on the OC online registry)

Marstar has indicated another batch of the MG34s are coming to Canada, and that possibly a last batch of the M1919s later in the year. As previously mentioned, TNW has indicated this will be their last production batch for the M1919s.
