Benchmark barrels?

These are great barrels to work with on the lathe as well as to shoot! Plus the fact that there is a fairly decent supply on hand in Canada and the screw ups I have had with other barrels like McGowan and Shilen ordered, this is pretty much all I am using and wouldn't hesitate to use.

Gary is good to deal with and although I have not fitted a lot of benchmark barrels they are high on my list of good stuff. I can tell you that my worst barrels for off centre bores and other problems are the most common name.

I have had the very same experience...

I just bought a 6.5MM barrel for a 6.5X55 build that I am doing and I found Gary to be really helpful and informative. He also carries a large inventory which is more than I can say for almost anyone else.

The Benchmark barrel that I have shot (Rob's) was a shooter and if I remember correctly he was banging gongs at 700+ with no load development on the first day out. Also, if Rob is OK with them you know it is pretty good - picky SOB... ;)

My personal belief on barrels is that any maker of quality barrels (krieger, bartlein, benchmark, shielen, ect ect) will be extremely accurate 98% of the time. That 98% of the time the shooter will not be able to shoot that barrel to the maximum of its potential. I run Benchmarks primarily because I recieve excellent service from Gary, and secondarily because they have all shot so far. The other story most people never hear is the BR shooter may buy 5 or 6 barrels have them all chambered and then shoot the most accurate one. Comparing the number of Kriegers on the line to benchmarks is kind of not fair either when you consider the number of barrels krieger builds compared to the 2000 a year benchmark makes.

Hey Guys , I have sent BushpilotMexico a PM to address his concerns , He has inadvertently forgot to point out a few facts and I think I should give him the opportunity to do so , as I don't think a pissing match will do anyone any good . But you can rest assured that we always take care of our customers to the best of our ability .
More to Come I am sure :)

Well, I finally got my Benchmark screwed onto an action and broken in.

Heavy contour, 5R, 1-8" twist, Chrome-moly, 26.5" finished length, chambered in 6mm Remington.

To say I am pleased would be an understatement!! Right out of the gate, it is a shooter!!

I shot 4 consecutive, 5-shot groups at our max distance on the short range [225 yards] and it was pretty impressive.

Average was .3125 moa. [And two different loads at that! If I had shot the best load for all 4 groups, the average would have been lower.

Regards, Dave.

Here's my 6.5-284 on a bat action grs stock benchmark 5r 1-8, shot this group with zero load development and just breaking it in. Group was shoot at 675 yards
