Historic old crest from 1975... the first Centerfire Super Shoot held in Canada. It was a great weekend, I remember it well. Held at the original site of Namaka Benchrest Shooting Club at the bottom corner of a field belonging to Corney Dirks south east of Strathmore.

a big ugly mass of steel with a 48 power 2 inch UNERTL, sometimes two scopes mounted... Remington Fireball action, a camera release to fire trigger on sand bags.

I first shot at Namaka in 1977; by that time Dennis was no longer competing. The first match I attended there was the night shoot. I shot a 6x47 in a Remington 40XB. I re-barreled and re-stocked that rifle in 1978 and was able to squeak out a win at the SS that year. That could be a very challenging range when the wind blew (and it did blow).

There were a lot of early shooters at Namaka I did not get to shoot with, including Dennis, and a bunch I did. I had to drive 400 miles to shoot there, but I enjoyed it enough that it was worth the trip. My home club was at Clearwater, B.C. The wind didn't blow nearly as hard there!
Dad started shooting at Namaka in the early '70's, I believe. Dennis barreled a couple of rifles for him too.
