Benchrest project completed, range report

I will see if

I can drum something up from one of the other boards.

If anyone has any questions about the build direct them to Guntech. He is the creator of this dream piece for me. I have not officially laid eyes on it except thru pics. I do believe and feel that he gave his all into this project and any project that he tackles.

He has the know how. He went to school, has the experience, and has a good source of support if he ever needs it. From what I have heard he is one of the good ones.

thanks man, and let us know when you get it, I want to see how it shoots. Like I said above I bet it'll shoot like a hot damn. enjoy it!

No video yet

but it made it into my hands yesterday. I hate to say it as I may jinx my luck but Canada post has yet to let me down. Went in the mail Thursday from Guntech and was at my door Monday AM. How about that for service?

All I could say was WOW........... Those that do not appreciate BR guns do not know what they are mssing. They are guns that look like Cadilacs and shoot like Ferraris................................. Thank you Dennis.......... you went above and beyond on this one...........

I did get 15 pieces of Lapua loaded for fireforming. Went to the range got one down the pipe at 50 yards and then a torrential downpour for about 10 mins. It stopped, gave it a quick clean job, and fired #2. Found the hit. Low and about 8" right. Clean, moved scope, fired round 3. Moved the scope wrong direction. Cleaned, adjusted, fired #4. Almost where I wanted to be but about 1" low. Cleaned, adjusted and fired #5. This was with 25grs of VV133 and 68gr Wildcat bullets.

Cleaned the barrel again and fired a 3 shot group. They all went into EXACTLY the same hole. Wow, I thought it looked like almost 1 bullet hole. Cleaned and fired the last 2. Again almost 1 hole. This was with 25.5grs of VV133.

I then moved to another bull and shot the last 5 rounds into a hole about the size of a 30 cal bullet hole. This load was 26grs of VV133.

All I could say to myself is wow............ Never had a gun that shot like that at 50 yards.

I now have 15 pieces ready for fireform load 2. I will up the powder charge considerable and start looking for some grouping at 100 yards.

All I can say is the Rem 700 6BR officially becomes the critter control gun.

After shooting the 6PPC I will have a hard time going back to anything less. It tracks like an arrow in the bags. I cannot wait to get out again and do some serious stuff.

Here are some

pics of it in MY possesion finally. It is all mine. Now the challenge of learning how to drive this thing.

Well have just

over 100 rounds down the pipe so far. It is going to take time to learn how to drive this baby on the bags but I think I am starting to get the hang of it.

Learing to read the effects of the wind on the bullet is going to be the biggest challenge in this game. I am grateful to have the WWW to help me in a shooting discipline that is almost non-existent in Canada.

Dan Opel and Bill Gammon have been helpful with sharing there thoughts and ideas. It is early on but I am very grateful to them.

Here is todays target. One fouler off of the target and 2-5 shot groups at 100 yards. The wind was fairly strong but I paid attention and did not pull the trigger unti lmy gut told me to. These were the end results.

I am going to LOVE shooting this baby.

The only thing I will have to do yet is sell my Caldwell 1000 yard rest and buy a rest more suitable to a Short range BR gun. Heads up, the Caldwell rest is to high for a short range gun. I have made some modifications for my rear bag to make it work for the time being until I get a new rest then on the market it goes.

You got that kind of velocity, 3333fps out of 21.9grs of V-133, or did I read it wrong?

No Bill,

you did not read that wrong. How does that fair? You can PM me or send me a personal e-mail.

Sorry Bill I did not notice that. It is 29.1 grs. I was drinking to much coffee at Timmy's trying to write stuff down. Caffeine affects me worse than a good bottle of whiskey.
