Hi all - as the title indicates, I'm looking for a tripod to support a fairly heavy spotting scope (~5 pounds) for benchrest shooting. My criteria for the tripod are that it has to be sturdy, stable and (relatively easily) adjustable for aiming.
I've currently got the scope sitting on a small Manfrotto that just barely holds it - actually, it does a half-decent job once you've got it pointed the right direction, but the aiming process is a pain, and it also vibrates for a second or two every time the bench gets touched. If any tripods you've used have a vibration-dampening effect, then that would be great info as well. Note: I'm thinking tabletop design (i.e. with short one-piece legs), rather than something with long, telescoping legs.
Any recommendations for equipment you've found that meet the above criteria would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
