What's the general opinion on these as non-restricted? Does it have problems with the more popular ar mags (lar15 etc)? Does it shoot cheap ammo reliably? And is it a pain to mount optics?

Edit: already checked some older threads, but didn't find out enough.
Thanks

It's a pain to get the rear sight off to get your scope mounted lower. Then the stock drops way down so you have a chin weld unless you put a cheek riser on. Mags are a non issue, my cousin's accepts them all like a champ. Eats whatever you feed it, and the gas system keeps it all very clean. Not the most accurate thing out there, but good for NR fun at the gravel pit I guess.

Never thought about one before, but I came across a used one and it seems like everything but AR's have gone up in price.

I bought this one (used) recently.... it was $1200, came with a Burris Fullfield scope mounted (not sighted in) with Burris Zee rings.... 2 LAR pistol mags, and the rear sight unattached with bolts missing.
I cut the front sight away, switched the rail around and mounted a Vortex strike eagle, with Burris 30mm Zee rings.

So far... im super happy with the gun for the money.
It cycles LAR mags, Military mags and Pmags flawlessly; and It seems potentially accurate. I shot 2, 5 shot groups at 100yrds off a rest with 62gr HP Tula ammo (steel cased) ... one group was 1.5" the other 1.75"

Despite all the fuss people say about this guns ergos, I actually find it not bad! The trigger is as good as an AR 15, the stock and forend are both comfy to hold onto, and its balance isnt any worse than more expensive guns like ACR, XCR etc.
The only real ergonomic flaw I see with the gun is that everything mag change related has to be done with the forward supporting hand. Although looking carefully into the gun, I think Bubba could easily make the bolt release operational by the trigger finger....

I really like it .
Had no problem with ar mags.I mount 3x9x40 sightron scope with a reverse ar scope mount in this case you don't have to remove rear sight and I want to try it with red dot. It is a bit time consuming to clean but it's okay.

What kind of accuracy do you guys get? I see everything from 2 moa to 6 moa ... Depending on who you believe and what about Lar15 and beuwolf mags? I know some guns seem to be magazine sensitive.

Accuracy depends on ammo but it's not known as a sub MOA gun. LAR & PCV Beowulf mags work great, all I tried or needed in the lat two years. You can hunt fine with them and it makes a good groundhog or coyote gun. I pair it up with my MVP for target or groundhogs at the farm and share the mags between them. (Had to sand the PVC mags a bit for the MDT MVP chassis but that was it.)

At the end of the day it's what you want to use it for, cost, and personal preference that should point you toward the better option. One big plus for the MR1 is the Argo system lets you fire a lot of rounds before you need to clean it. But when you do it's going to be black. Get the dollar store green micro scrubbing pads, it makes it a much quicker cleanup job for the pistons.

BTW: My second finger is long enough to release the bolt lever without moving position but it's never been an issue as fast mag changes aren't required.
