Benelli 300 win mag hunting?

i like mine very much , recoil is tame with the comfort tech stock. hits where i want to would be great for moose . thats what i have been using mine for. since the year 2005 i think it replaced a Heckler und Koch 940 in 30.06 (that sits in my safe waiting to go hunting some day ) as my moose rifle .
paid to much at Al Simmons $1795 + $87 for a spare mag .
its all i use now

I had one. Ended up selling it. It’s good for what it is. I haven’t had a single malfunction. Easy to take apart and clean. But the best I could get out of that thing was 2.5 moa at 100 yards. No point in a 300 wm if it’s a 250 yard gun. Bluing on the receiver was wearing off already after couple weeks of hunting. That and I missed a buck because I rode the bolt closed, causing it to not go into battery.... point it at the deer and “click” no boom. No fault of the rifle mind you, but that left me not wanting a semi auto for hunting anymore. And with everything else, I let it go. Other people’s mileage may vary...

Buddy has one and I have the opportunity to use it on a couple of occasion.

My finding is similar with James it is no where near a bolt gun accuracy the receiver is longer than other semi in identical caliber (longer than a Browning Bar) thus make the R1 like carrying a shotgun more than a rifle in the bush.

Trigger is okay but again not a bolt gun the best part is it's very easy to clean compared to other semi if you must own a semi rifle otherwise I still prefer my bolt actions any day of the week and twice on Sunday (if Sunday hunt is allowed).

I still own a Browning Shortrac in 300wsm but get use very little that tells you something.

I don't have one, but my buddy's dad does. He loves it. He complains about the accuracy, stating he has never shot a group smaller than 2 inches, but he only shoots close range and loves the reliability of feeding as his main hunting hobby is the driven boar hunts.
