Look, you have your opinions and I have mine, it just so happens that we don't exactly have the same opinions. So what, your getting all bent out of shape because I don't agree with you?
This is what happens on forums, people share opinions, if you don't like how that works then don't participate!
And here I thought you were bent out of shape. I've no issue with your opinion being different to mine, I was similarly getting the impression from your comments that you felt yours was the only relevant opinion. Glad we were able to discuss it like men and clear that up.

I do have strong opinions but I try to justify them with factual information and about 50 years of experience, that's why they are strong opinions. I'm not always right and have no problem admitting that but it needs to be proven with facts and not just because someone doesn't like what I'm saying.
I view statements such as "Benelli doesn't need your permission" as nonsensical and non logical so my replies to such statements are blunt and dismissive.

To be equally blunt, you brought up asking permission, which I found childish and petulant. I interpreted your earlier comments to say that because Benelli's 'feat' is of no practical use, they should not have even tried. I think that such opinions stifle innovation, and will speak against them.

It be marketing hype fer sure. Parent company Beretta pushes a similar method. They need to do their homework I reckon.
Back in the early 80's, Seattle gunsmith Stan Baker developed & made his own barrels and chokes that gained
high praise from trap shooters back then. Stan's BB-84 barrels were essentially chamberless by having the bore the same .800" dia as the
chamber all the way down to his 10 ga choke tubes. His system worked well gaining averages of 60 fps faster than standard .730" 12 ga
barrels using control ammo confirmed at a major US ammo makers' lab.
This was possible because of the plastic shot cups used in modern shotshell ammo which could expand into the bore to seal the gasses
during firing. The chamberless shotgun idea actually originated in the 1920's but was abandoned because of the fiber wad & card ammo
available then. I tried a Rem 1100 w/BB-84 tube on 'er that pointed & shot fine fer me yrs back.
Only company making guns that get close to this kind of velocity improvement today are the Mossberg 835/935 series units which be 10 ga
.775" bore down to their 10 ga Ulti-Mag chokes. With ammo companies going with ever larger payloads per given sport, larger bore barrels
be the ticket in my book. I got a 40 fps average increase with the budget ammo I used in me 835 trap unit.
I'm sure we could all remember in our hunting days the unbelievable shot at a duck or goose stoned at 80 yds.But they were by far the exception and I'm sure given enough time and ammo we could re create that shot. Benelli has as you all have pointed out maximized the once in a blue moon shot to their advantage .Will I go out and buy one ,no probably not I will buy the non AI gun as it will be cheaper and for what I want will work just fine ,but my neighbour maybe not

Long forcing cones have been around quite a while. Beretta used them in the 90's in the 682 Gold E and Dt10, they were about 4 inches long and contribute to the reduced felt recoil of those guns. Subsequent model like the 692 and Dt11 had even longer forcing cones. The 692 cones extended about halfway down the barrel and the Dt11 cones were almost full length.
I've always considered this to be a great improvement over what were typically 3/4 inch cones of the period.
