Was at the local CT store and they have some Benelli rifles in stock. Can anyone tell me what these are like? It seemed to be a quality gun and my son is bugging me to buy it.

Really? they sell them at Canadian Tire now?

I had to special order one years ago (called and R1), was $1800.

I have 2 now, they're great.

I had an R1 in 300 win mag, loved it but sadly had to sell it to pay some bills. If I had the money again I'd buy another without hesitation.

The local CT has wood stocked ones for 1200 and the synthetic for 1400 ish. Seems like a nice gun for sure

I've seen them cheaper than that, just never at CanTire. 1000 for wood 1200 for comfortech is the best I've seen. Can't remember where, I think one of the sponsors.
Felt burned as the used price of my gun took a major plunge!

My .338 Win Mag in Comfortech recoils as you would expect it to, but it doesn't feel that bad. It is much like the felt recoil of my .308 BLR. and very comfortable because of the energy absorption of the stock and butt pad. This movement in the stock was alarming at first however. I just have to say that I am thankful that I had the scope where it was and I was wearing glasses because the first shot to sight that bugger in nicked the lens of my glasses.

It would be nice in wood but the genuine R1 stocks are a nicer wood than I have seen on the Argo E. See if you can find an R1 first if buying the wood stock.

The comfort tech stock will absorb more recoil then the wood stock version but even then I found the gas system help quite a bit.
