We took the Benelli Ethos Super Sport A.I. out to the range with one goal: break a clay target further than anyone ever has before. Benelli says their Advanced Impact barrel puts more energy downrange, and we were skeptical enough to go find out. So we set up a trap machine, started at 100 yards with standard target loads, and kept walking it back. Target loads, pheasant loads, TSS, and let's just say, by the end of the day, we had a new world record and we were a little more believers in the Advanced Impact.

it's only a world record by your standards shooting at a incoming target
you launch the target towards you
then try hit it when it stops its momentum
what ever works
 
I have a Benelli Cordoba Competition that was built back in 2012. It was customized by Briley on behalf of Benelli and is over bored to .733,and has a upgraded bolt handle, upgraded bolt release, tuned trigger and a 6 oz weight cap. Hits targets really hard but I have never shot it at long range. Presumably this new Super Sport AI is next generation. Would be gun to try it but don't have the skills to shoot 100+ yd shots.
 
Ic choke at 100 plus yards. Wonder how many shots were edited out before that lucky pellet hit the clay. I know extreme range targets can be broken fairly consistently but im skeptical the video wasnt edited
I can not try this because I can not see a clay target in the air much more than a 100 yards away.
Id love to see the pattern board at those ranges though
 
The longer the range, the larger the shot size required to break a clay, which makes for an even more sparse pattern. At those distances, luck is as important as skill, to have a pellet actually strike the clay, and not just have shot pass all around the clay.
 
Was this witnessed by an independent committee?
There are several things I see in the video, one was using standard clays instead of smokers, which would have made a break decisive, because I never saw the 208 yard clay break although I did see it flying.
I have no doubt that it will likely be the deciding factor for some people that are thinking of buying a Benelli gun! LOL

He later stated he prolly could have gone to 150m given the conditions were right but he didnt want to have to move everything behind him. There were vendors or something behind the crowd. He also use fixed choked perazzi and #5 british sized shot which im to believe the euro sizes and smaller than ours. So his 5s would be our 6s. I could be wrong about the exact relation but there is a difference in how they measure their shot
