If I was to fork out the big difference in bucks for the Benelli M2, would I notice a big difference in performance than the 11-87, and in what way?
If there is anyone who has used both I would appreciate some info on this.

The Remington will be softer shooting because it's gas-operated although the newer Comfortech stock on the Benelli makes the difference less.

The Benelli is worth the extra money primarily because they are better built guns, more reliable and more durable. The inertia recoil system is simpler, easier to clean and less likely to malfunction. The Benellis also come with a shim system that permits adjusting the stock for fit.

Remington has cut a lot of corners in the production of its guns and it shows. Quality control is not what it once was and I've owned and seen some poorly built products from them in the last few years.

I believe the $400-$500 difference between the 11-87 and the M2 would be money well spent.

So are you saying that the Comfortech stock on the benelli will result in less recoil than the 11-87? or about the same?
Cause I know that the 11-87 even has the R3 pad on and its really good on recoil.
I am leaning more on the Benelli but the most important thing for me is the recoil cause I will be using it mostly on canada geese and it will be firing heavy loads practically all the time, that is why I am concerned about the recoil, but if its about the same as the Rem. my decision will be made faster.

I wouldn't say it is the same as the Remington in terms of recoil but it's by no means unbearable especially if your knocking geese out of the sky. Some guys say that the Benelli hits pretty hard, when I am hunting I really don't notice it that much. I trap shoot with me Super Black Eagle II and don't really notice it there either.

I like the Benelli's cause cleanup is so much easier and faster than a gas system not to mention the reliability of the Inertia Driven system over a gas system is a nice bonus.

Also as was mentioned earlier in this thread the build quality of the Benelli's is far superior to anything Remington is putting out these days.

:)Benelli or Beretta, but never a clunker like a Remington! You don't need spare parts with either B gun. Remington is a 1960 antique! O rings and all! Both B guns are worth the little extra as they are very reliable and of a 21th century design.

Use the most reliable!

The Comfortech will not reduce recoil below that of an 11-87 because an inertia system will produce more felt recoil than a gas system. The Comfortech stock reduces the recoil so the difference between the two will not be as noticeable.

I own both and I prefer the benelli. Mine is a SBE II and the reciol of 3.5 shells isn't a big deal. I've shot hundreds of shells in a day for days on end. I am also a shooter that doesn't like recoil....at all, and I still like the benelli over the 1187.

Comfortech stock absorbs the recoil therefore giving it less recoil feeling on your shoulder. And it will feel like less recoil than the 11-87 or any other semi on the market gas or inertia. And that has been proven by independent testers.

Benelli M2 hands down. Had it not been for my freind recently buying an 11-87 I would say buy which ever one fits blah blah blah, but those guns need alot of work to reliably cycle loads. That has become the running joke with him, his gun is like Ikea furniture, you have finish building it when you get home. Save your the hassles, M2! Also the M2 points very nice for me but then again that is a fit and finish thing. I am just saying from what I have observed on the new Remington, the are definitely not the same quality as they used to be, burrs in the chamber, bumps and divets on the slide rails etc. Anyways, take my experiences for what they are, suggestions.
