I want a new to me waterfowl gun. Both of these options are available at a local gun dealer in a lightly used condition.

3.5 chambering is not very important to me. I have shot a super vinci and liked it. What would you suggest is the best option? Obviously super vinci is a bit more cash.

The M2 is the older Benelli action with the spring enclosed in a tube in the butt stock.

The Vinci has all the mechanism located in the receiver.

Both actions are very reliable & easy to maintain. I prefer the M2, that gun fits me well. I would suggest that you try the fit of both guns.

I agree with you regarding the 3 1/2 inch chambering, to me it is a solution for a none existing problem.:)

Could you explain why it's a far superior machine??? They are both benelli action.

Its hard to say actually....for me its a perceived higher quality gun and more reliable. I think the Vinci is also a great shotgun, but seems to have more issues.

The M2 is based on the operating system that Benelli was founded on. It is simple and strong and very easy to maintain. Quite often gun companies develop new models that are flashy and marketing heavy but offer no real benefits to their tried and true designs. The Vinci is one of these models as far as I'm concerned. You can be sure that what Benelli actually did with the Vinci was design a shotgun that was "feature packed", cheaper to manufacture, and with a higher msrp than the M2.

Shoulder both and buy whichever one feels better as fit is paramount but realize that the M2 is the workhouse and standard bearer not the Vinci.

Fit and feel should dictate what's best for you. I have owned both, but own neither now as I much prefer the Versamax. If your not planning on shooting 3.5" loads then it's a no brainer, stick to the M2 or the standard Vinci, not the Super. When I ran 3" loads in both of mine, the Vinci seemed a tad softer than the M2 on the shoulder.

I have been running the super vinci for 3 years now. I cannot comment on the M2 as I have never fired one. I like the SV because it shoulders well, fits me, doesn't recoil that harsh when using 3 and 3.5" shells,..well actually the 3.5" sting a bit. I truly love the SV but probably only because I am used to it.
