Hey Guys,

I've been looking into putting some slugs through my M4 and from what I've read cylinder bore is the way to go. Been trying to find one and everyone is on back order. Im starting to think they do not exist. Anyone put me in a right direction?

Ive never fired a slug before or know any guys that do without a rifled barrel. The internet proved to have all sorts of useless info so Im just going off benelli website. Figure theyd know what to plug in to prevent banana barrels. Would love to hear from people with experience though.

Almost all slugs on todays market are designed for ALL (even FULL choke) chokes. The "rifling" on rifled slugs isn't to spin the slug, it's to deform to a full choke.

As Stoop said, a lot of slugs like a SMALL amount of compression provided by an improved cylinder (or sometimes even modified) choke to get the best accuracy.

Please make sure you read all safety instructions though. Most modern day shotguns are physically designed to shoot a full power slug through the most constrictive choke, and be okay (and the M4 is no exception as I've fired quite a few slugs, 2-3/4" and 3" through the factory Modified choke), but obviously not all shotguns are made the same way.

I DO have an extended cylinder bore choke from Casey at Tactical Ordinance (for their breacher, although it works great on its own) and it's awesome for shooting clays and stuff, almost like Auto Aim :p

Outstanding! Thanks guys. So improved cylinder is the way to go. That extended one the one to get for blastin slugs? Wont be doing much breaching until i get some more cash and time to setup a course...but can do some ranges and targets with em soon as i can get a good choke.

Don't be surprised if your new IC choke is no better or worse with slugs, you could even find that if you were to get another MOD choke, it might be considerably better than your factory unit.

You might find that a certain brand, or a certain type within that brand, of slugs make for more of an improvement than a choke change.

Basically, every shotgun barrel and choke are a law unto themselves.

Yep, try a few different slug types and see what it likes.

I've heard of guys shooting out to 150+ yards with the M4 and slugs, and being able to hit the gongs consistently, so it's definitely capable of great accuracy if you get your sweet spot found!
