I had a Doctor Optic on my M4s90 at first, great little sight, although I was always a little worried about its durability because I used it in 3-gun stuff and didn't want to bust it.
I ended up with an Aimpoint Micro on top, which ended up on my HK USC/UMP conversion instead, but it was a great optic for the M4. A normal Aimpoint would work great too, just get a low mount for it.

There's an ongoing debate right now on weather the 5-round limit applies to the 3" shells or the 2-3/4" shells the M4 is marked for... I Emailed the RCMP about it and the federal level guy really didn't have any idea and to ask the provincial CFO about it... (go figure)
I personally think it applies to an absolute max of 5-rounds for the shells it's meant to fire, but considering the Federal RCMP - CFC detachment has no idea, I suppose it's fair game until they make a determination.... I'm still trying to get into contact with the Alberta CFO.

The sights on the M4 are so low that unless you had a direct mount to the receiver, you couldn't do it... Think of a small shim with a Doctor Optic, you MIGHT be able to do it. Even the picatinny rail has the long cutout in it so you can properly use the sights. The other option is to take the LPA rear sight off and put one of those clamp-on rail type on the rail, and then get or manufacture a taller front sight.
That's why I opted for a red-dot with a quick release lever instead of messing with co-witness. The American Defense MFG mounts have full width steel recoil bars so you don't have to worry about it damaging your rail like the LaRue ones did with the factory rail. (by damaging I mean the 1/4" wide recoil lug on the LaRue mounts would dig into the picatinny rail corners, there was only maybe 1mm of contact on either side due to the channel down the length of the rail)

Mine just arrived, had to sand it down a bit to get it to fit, apparently Benelli's tolerances are not as good as the BLAM4's, but w/e, looks it it will do.

Looks like it will work, I stupidly bought a remote pressure switch in advance of the mount due to it having to be mounted on the wrong side for me (righty) but I can actuate the push button just fine, and the cabling for a remote pad is far too annoying/dangerous/prone to breakage/etc.
Hopefully won't (it shouldn't) give me the trouble my mesa clamp did.

Yes and no.
The mount itself is rock solid, the MOE rail that is attached to it not so much, it will cam up and down (-5* to +5*) if you apply some pressure. The two holes that the moe rail sits in are slightly oversized. Tightening the screw and appling locktight may solve this in addition to some sort of bonding agent between the MOE rail and the mount itself.
I would not run a sighted laser on this mount in it's current state, but for a flashlight it will do.
BLAM4, straight from the manufacturer, came to 65$ USD shipped, I can't say I can recommend the mount yet as I have yet to fire it and I did have to modify it to get it to fit my m4.

6 days later, caves to 10% off @ Questar. 'Old' 4 MOA T1 is going on the benelli for now, new 2 MOA on the LT660 for the AR15.
Guess I get to join the cool kids in the unlimited divisions for most 3 gun matches vs tac optics.
