Im thinking about purchasing a benelli M4 But for like 2500 taxes in or so, is it worth it? I want non restricted version. What it the collapsable stock like? Fixed the way to go? Is there any comparable better options out there. The reason I want one is basically solely for skeet shooting and to say i own one. I currently have a Rem 887 Nitro mag pump and wanted a tactical shotty thats fairly soft hitting for my lady friend to use. Thanks for any input!

The M4 is an awesome shotgun, its hard to find one that you can shoot as fast with, or that is as reliable (without going to a pump)

The tele stock is okay, I hated the cheek piece, you could only use it in the "fully open" position with iron sights comfortably, so I ended up making my own low profile one out of fibreglass cloth with black synthetic leather on top.

The stock is very long in the open position, the fixed stock would probably be a little better as far as comfort goes, although you can't adjust the length at all, unless you cut it down...

There is also the option of the Mesa Tactical Urbino stock, but I'm not sure if anyone in Canada can get it (brownells has it but they are over 100 bucks). Its a 12" LOP stock, versus 14.5" or 15"

Only you can say if the cash is worth it, but they are awesome shotguns! (having the removable chokes is a nice touch too)

For $1000 less you can get a Benelli M2 tactical. You can find it with a comfortech or pistol grip stock. It's inertia driven instead of gas operated. It doesn't come with a rail on top of the receiver or an ugly, pseudo magazine extension.

A simpler, lighter and much ###ier gun IMHO.

M4 is the best shotgun I've ever used. Bought one several years ago and love it. Since buying it I ditched my longtime Mossberg 590, never shoot it anymore.

Recoil is very managable on an M4, 100 rounds of slugs or buckshot no problem, not even a shoulder bruise. My old Mossey took about 25 rounds before it hurt too much. Shoots extremely fast and shoots any ammo I've tried in it.

Will never trade by M4, one of my all time favorite guns. I have used it at the range, for skeet and hunting. Great gun for the cash.

Added a B&T rail and Magpul AFG to balance the weight out a bit. With a Mesa sidesaddle and VCAS sling it is a brute!

Don't most {if not all} of the Benelli M4s imported into Canada have the 3 position stock that allows for an intermediate setting? At least the ones I've seen in my area do, I believe the intermediate setting gives a LOP of 13.5" and feels about perfect to me.

Anyway I've been impressed by the function and fit and finish of the M4 but can't get past the ghost ring sights {don't like GRs, though I'll admit these worked better for me on this gun than most} and the comparatively difficult loading of the magazine, I'm not a fan of the front heavy balance nor the faux magazine extension either.

I had an M4 and it's a great shotgun. However, if your sole use is skeet, you will be disappointed, especially with either pistol grip stock. The ghost ring sights don't work well for flying things either.

If you're spending that much money and must have a Benelli, look at the Super Sport or Cordoba for skeet.

Why the phony magazine extension? Why not just take the magazine tube out, have it copied but with more length and pin it to five? Is it a legal issue? Is it just a Benelli rule?

Comes factory. Because thats expensive? (one guy on cgn did it, seems like a waste of cash) no , no.

I have only done skeet once with the m4, and it was my first time, I scored 5, with one stage perfect.

My best trap score is 17/25, that is after 10 rounds of trap ever.

Any small fab shop can do it. It needn't be that expensive. Had I the cash to purchase an M-4 I'd spend one or two hundred to get the full length extension made. I believe I saw on a U.S. sight some full length one-piece mags for $150 or thereabouts.

The Benelli product are just the best in their respective categorie my m4 shotgun is a marvel of enginering dont shoot one if you dont want to buy one everything else will leave you on your appetite and talk about the 223 MR-1 for a good price they will equal or surpass any AR type rifle, this stuff rock... JP.

I toyed with having a "pinned" +2 extension but it would cost a few hundred either way to make it from a machine shop... Plus the threading is different than standard threads, not sure how easy the square threading is to cut (im sure with a proper cutter in a lathe it would be just as easy as course threading)
