Hey guys,

I just got myself a Benelli M4 (bought NIB of the EE!!!) a few weeks ago and I love the thing!!! Now this is both my first high end and semi auto shotgun as well as something that has a removable choke.

I have fired about 50 rounds give or take of buck/slugs out of it so far (I cleaned it and left it wet before the first use) and it worked just fine, and was A LOT of fun!!!

Now my questions are...

- After using it for approx. 50 rounds I noticed that the choke (M) was loose (I did tighten it before hand). Is there any way to prevent this? Or is there a set number of rounds I should fire out of it then check the tightness of it? Also...when I do remove it...I need to clean both the choke tube and the threads and add a bit or GREASE to the threads before screwing it back in?

- WHERE on the gun do I lube it? I want to do it properly and not have the whole thing soaking wet lol. How often do I need to redo it, as in how many rounds will it last?. Will it stay lubed and ready to go "indefinitely" if the gun is left "sitting" or will it all evaporate in time? IS the bottle that game with the gun... "Ben Oil" unifluid allgun okay for use I assume? Is there something that is better out there?

- How often does the gun need a FULL cleaning? I am used to totally breaking down and cleaning my guns after each use but that gets annoying and takes time/drains my cleaning supplies quickly. I am trying to just clean them WHEN (or just before when) they need it...I will still wipe down the outsides for finger prints or dirt or clean it fully if they got wet.

Much thanks for any help/advice you can share!!!

Lastly here is a photo of my new girl :p

I clean mine when I have the oppertunity, which is as often as I can ! Just love taking it apart and admiring what goes on In the inner workings of such a fine firearm.
That being said it was designed for combat and low maintenance so as long as it is not filthy dirty or soaking wet you should be fine every few hundred rounds. The A.R.G.O system keeps most of the carbon fouling out of the action.
As for the choke I've never had a problem , just good and snug.

I clean mine and lube it after each trip out,i use nra high temp grease on the argo pistons, just don't over do it just a small amount with your finger, every thing else ballistol it ,congrad its an amazing shotgun I love mine.

Just have fun with it. Don't clean it too much ( I hate to see people damaging firearms from over cleaning or abrasive wear).

Use something like clp or another quality option and leave gas affected parts dry after clean. Then again everyone has an opinion and you can't argue with the manual or manufacturer recommendations.
