Benelli M4 Tactical - opinions

I am thinking of buying a Benelli M4 Tactical. How does this gun rate overall? How does it rate compared to the Fabarm SAT8? Is it worth the extra price?

Solid, robust and shoots everything I've tried in it so far. Uber light trap loads to uber hot slugs.
I don't know if I'd spend $2100+pst+gst on it.
I imported mine and spent conciderably less...

If you have the money, you shouldn't even be asking questions. Holy grail of the shotgun world. Be sure to get one with the sliding stock assembly.

All of the above. The receiver is anodized, satin smooth. The unique double-piston operating system, the sights, the ease of maintenance and disassembly etc. And its incredibly fun to shoot.

If you don't mind me asking where did you import it from and how much did it set you back? I would love to have that shot gun but the price is a little steep.

The M1 does indeed use the recoil of the round to cycle the action. The kicker here is that the gun has to be on your shoulder for the recoil system to work correctly. This is not ideal in the situations that the M4 might need to be used in. Like sticking the gun around a corner and trying to make as much use of cover as possible. With this in mind the M4 was designed with a gas system.

The M1's will cycle light loads but maybe not really light loads. I've also seen an M4 that would not cycle the really light loads such as the cheap nickel plated stuff at $6.99 per box of 25 rounds.

Both are great shotties just designed for slightly different uses.

Well posts sum it up quite good! Apart from the obvious high price, you won't regret your purchase. As suggested earlier, make sure you get it with the collapsible stock unless you really don't care; either way it will make heads turn.

Buy a few boxes of higher power shells (read: heavy buckshot & slugs) to break it in. I also suggest different chokes too, they are the same as the standard benelli (non-cryo). From there you may add a few more accessories that may suit your desires: rail forearm, optic, sidesaddle, larger bolt carrier release & enlarged bolt handle.

The non-cryo Benelli chokes are also the same thread pattern as the Beretta Mobil chokes, so there is no shortage of choke tubes available for the M4. By changing tubes, the gun can be transformed from a slug gun to a tactical piece to a turkey slayer, etc.

Thats right ! I had forgotten that one.

The surefire M80 is my next (and big) accessory on my personnal list, it looks so fine on the gun, it certainly won't help the weight factor but hell with it !

About the same weight as one of my friend's 870 express magnum. For its size, it is heavy; but we all know that it is a good sign for buisness ! Its well balanced though.
