Probably going to buy one.
Will use it for speed shooting, and zombie defense toy.
It will replace my 870 as a camp bear gun.

Is the M4 a good match for my uses?
Ups and downs of ownership?

What accessories are you using on the M4?
I'm not overly concerned with budget here.

Thanks in advance! :D

m4

the M4 is the best shotgun i have ever owned. fast accurate rate of fire. the sight are very good excellent target selection and very smooth sighting. I love the ergos of the gun and the adjustable stock is very well thought out. Resale is very good and the recoil is great. As for accessories the gun is so good it really doesn't anything added to it. I would only get the burris speed sight and that would be it.

The good: Most likely the best tactical semi auto used worldwide by the Elite British and US military. Comes well equiped and accessories vary by taste and need. This is a bad kick ass ready for action shooting weapon. It even comes with a choke, pic rail, Tactical Military Spec Ghost Ring Sights and the choice of regular or steady grip stock.

The bad: NONE

Ups: Best resale value, you don't have to waste time looking for a better defense shotgun, advantage if competition shooting with speed and confidence, reliability, durability.

Downs: Everyone will envy you, and theves will be attracted to it so never leave unattended, cost.

You're gonna love this gun.

Its expensive.

Thats the only down side I can see to it! :D

and its a bit harder to find Benelli specific accessories. I absolutely love mine, especially since its got a bit of my touch to it now, but even bare bones stock its an awesome shotgun!

If I was looking for an autoloader, I'd certainly give the M-4 a look. I assumed it would be an inertia operated action, and was surprised to see that its a gas gun. I prefer a traditional stock, and think that for use as a real world wilderness protection gun, the pistol grip might prove to be a nuisance, particularly if you want to carry the gun in a sleeve to keep the snow off it. From a handling point of view, once you got used to it, it would work fine.

Thanks for the input!

I've been poking around all the combat shotgun sites quite a bit in the last few months and the one thing that really got my attention is that the guys that own the M4 are super happy with all aspects of the gun. After spending all that money a guy is going to let everyone know if something isn't right!

Then I got the privilege of spending an afternoon at the range with one....WOW!....First impression? It cycles and is back on target quicker than anything I have ever shot! Reloading is and enjoyable process? I have come to expect that every now and then I will loose a bit of thumb meat to my 870.
The Benelli made my 870 feel like...For sale! :D

I will probably go Aimpoint for a speed sight. Aimpoint has a sterling reputation for building bullet proof sights, but that little micro looks sort of delicate? Any feedback on that?

I will use the M-4 as a camp bear gun, but while it's configuration makes it a great combat gun it doesn't look like something comfortable to pack while I fish some remote stream?? Benelli does offer a traditional stock, but I think I might be better off with a 14inch Dlask. Which is a shame as I will be shooting many rounds through the M4 during practice.

Do the sights have a Trijicon insert?

Thanks again!

No worries with the Micro Aimpoint. It will hold fine to any abuse the M4 can give it.:)

My micro went through quite a few rounds on my M4 before I moved it to my USC/UMP. It worked very well on the M4, and if I wasn't saving up money for UMP mags, I'd probably get a second Micro for the M4 again! :D

The only bad thing I've really heard about the M4 is that the top rail is supposely not quite in spec and can chew up mounts or get chewed up itself, can any M4 owners clarify?

The good:
See above or pretty much any owner for positive comments. I especially liked the bomber build quality, the corrosion resistance and the run filthy reliability. I don't like having to clean guns.

The bad:
Sellers remorse when you trade it for something else. To keep a recent bolt gun purchase revenue neutral I sold my Benelli M4 with a Docter Optics 7 moa red dot.

Live and learn.

It's a standard Picatinny rail. Works as intended.

The relief cut down the middle (used so you can get a good sight picture) has been problematic for LaRue mounts, since the small recoil lug in the middle is JUST a hair wider on ether end, and will damage the LaRue mount.

I have an ADM Aimpoint Micro "low" scope mount (got from Brownells - about 80 bucks US) that has a solid steel full width recoil cross slot, and is ROCK solid.

The factory mount with the Aimpoint QR mount also works, although I never tried it with 3" magnums, I am sure it would hold up fine. The ADM mount is solid as a chunk of granite! :D

A bit of an old picture, but shows the ADM mount.

The FAB railed forend now has the top rail cut off to more of the factory forend height (same height as top of picatinny side rails). Looks awesome!

Best semi tactical shotgun. I love mine, shoots super fast and accurate, easy to take apart and maintain. well worth the big $$$$. you will never regret buying it.
your fiends will be green with envy.
I put an eotech sight on mine.
LOVE IT.

Any thoughts on stock configuration?
The one I shot seemed super long (LOP)?

I understand the collapsible stock is no longer available?

Thanks for the help!
