Benelli M4

Its for piecing the pie and looking around corners/door frames.

When you put it at the angle, you can get so close to the corner of the door, that your head just barely pokes out. Now try it with the stock in the normal position and a lot of your head and shoulder is sticking out too.

You can do it pretty well with the stock "upside down" for lefty-shooting too.

You cant use iron sights in that config, but indoors stuff is so close range its not a big deal.

Any documentation/source for this?

I kind of looked around their website but found nothing mentioning the stock.

Wikipedia or something may have some info about the stock, im not even really sure where I heard about it first. Works really good though :D

I posted the question on the Benelli USA forums. I'm being told it's the position for stock removal.

Regardless of what it's for, it works well for the purpose you descibe. :)

Very nice.

What's it like firing it without the forearm drop handle thingy? Does it tear up your hand?

No issues at all. Some guys wear Tac gloves and this saves the hands a bit. I don`t. Your hands will get a bit "dirty" though from the exhaust from the pistons......not too bad.

This B&T rail was bought from Wolverine Supplies by the way.

So now the big question: How much?

Also, is it tough to install ? I'm assuming it's made specifically for the M4, ie. no major mods needed.

I ordered a small attachment that bolts to the mag tube from Brownells, enough to attach an M3 light anyway. I may have to call Wolverine Supplies now. :)

IIRC, the rail was a bit over $600 with tax and shipping incl. It is aircraft grade aluminum and machined to spec. Fits the M4 like a glove and is simple to install. Rock solid once installed. I tried other platforms (Surefire M80 and Mako/FAB rails for M4) they do not compare at all. US govt has bought tons of the B&T as well for Military use. Bite the bullet and get this.....

Wow, $600

Did some checking, it's $325US south of the border. That sucks.

Thanks for the info.

Yes it is the position for taking the stock off too. It does however lock into the sideways position, so as you said, whatever it is meant for, it does work well for piecing the pie :D

I picked up one of these pushbutton sling swivels and it works pretty good
