Benelli MR-1 co-witness question

I have an issue, putting the barrel back on, EVEN WITHOUT THE BOLT, I get stuck about an eighth of an inch before being able to fully lock back into the rear of the receiver. I have no idea what I'm stuck on, and Ive followed every direction to a T.

HELP.

Driving me nuts right now.

EDIT:

Nevermind, you just got REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY give it a smash to lock it in!

I was putting a huge amount of my weight on it...must be at least 150+lb and it wouldnt click into place...spent about an hour doing this and taking it apart 100times. Then after I posted this I gave up and literally gave it a karate chop smack downward and a loud CLICK! Sheesh.

Extra high are very comfy for me my MR-1 it is perfect as is.... with added shots everything came easy and very smooth and i would not cut that nice barrel i suspect the very good accuracy is due in part to that 20 incher, my friends in the states are shooting 16.5 inch and barely go over 2 inchs at 100 i had a couple of .75 and average 1.1 so ...... Ok, I just got back from getting mounted and boresighted and I decided to abolish the rear irons and go with Millet low tactical rings. This, plus the addition of an eagle industries cheek rest = SUPER COMFY and great sight picture, the way a rifle should feel when properly scoped.

Trying to go over the irons with the extra high rings gave a mediocre cheek rest at best even with the eagle rest and changed the whole ergonomics to a point I did not like.

Going this route made everything simple...of course this also means no buis...

In terms of co-witness, with low rings on the millet DMS on 1x mag you could see the front irons and ears on the bottom 25% of the scope...by 2x they have dissapeared mostly.

Very nice job on your MR-1 it got the look... Today at the range i shot a 100 rounds of Hornady 75 gr Match HP ( 5 boxes bought at Le Baron ) was suprised to see a couple of .75 groups the rest being 1 to 1.2 inch this 20 inch barrel and the 1 in 9 twist permit to stabilize those bullets.... The MR-1 is a rifle of choice after near 3500 shots without A SINGLE MALFUNCTION still impress me more ... JP.

And on thing i did notice that barrel being pencil thin does not string the shot even after 20 rounds of rapid fire... The Criogenic treatement must be for something for that... JP.

When you get use to it actually it is very good and everything smooth up after 3500 rounds ...all thing are easy to operate now and the trigger break clean at 4 and half pound very crisp at the start it would be at 6 pound with a little creep... time on your side... JP.

Just how much have you been shooting ? .....:D

With that kind of rifle ammo go so fast... it required almost no cleaning it doesnt copper foul 500 rounds in a day is easy going this rifle could easily be use a a assault rifle it is so accurate and reliable and since i reload dont cost to much for the pleasure i get... JP.

Well it DID start life as an assault rifle, beretta rx4...

Its not an ideal setup for a go-fast weapon though...
these reasons mostly:

-Mag release doesn't allow drop free mags, and is a ##### itself to operate...
-Mounting of optics is a pain in the ass, no true co-witness, super high optic over bore if you don't lose the rear irons.
-Limited real estate for mounting accessories, the tri-rail is incoming for me, but I don't think it covers what is required for high-end operational use...
-bit on the heavy side by modern standards

HOWEVER, as a jack of all trades rifle, I don't think much surpasses it as a non-restricted black rifle...you do gain a bunch of features by losing some of that high speed compared to an AR for example.

-I would argue that the benelli piston system is more reliable than even a piston ar, which makes the weight acceptable, since I won't be shouldering this gun for hours on end sweeping towns.
-Runs super clean, making cleaning and maintenance not only easy, but very forgiving if you don't want to clean after every trip.
-Benelli quality in the finish and overal parts etc.
-uses AR mags, even if they dont drop free, this is a plus over say a mini-14
-Allows enough real-estate for the user that isn't part of a socom team. with the tri-rail, you can mount bi-pods, lights, lasers without problem.
-shoulders very easily, the stock being where it is, shoulders like a shotgun, and shotguns are made angled to shoulder very quickly for wing shots etc. If there is one high speed aspect that this rifle has, its that it shoulders like a benelli m4, which is fast and smooth.
-Either stylish or fugly. Nobody really sits on the fence with this gun. I was always in the fugly crowd, but am slowly warming up to it, then again, I plan on various modifications to change it up a bit. On that note, it is "Styled" and not a straight combat rifle design. That give it a bit more "friendly/PC" look for things like hunting or target shooting without having a super combat look.
-NON-RESTRICTED

Overall, I think it suits alot of requirments nicely, esp with the 1-4xoptic...

-Hunting varmints
-Zombie invasion ranged headshots
-Rabid squirrel invasion doorkicking
-SHTF
-Target shooting

There are faster rifles, more accurate rifles, more combat looking guns, more hunter friendly looking guns etc etc. This one balances it all off in one package.
This one can do it all for the average joe in my books, and that is the best part.

Could not have say it better myself and i you dont mind my saying, we have to forget the mini they are milles aways of the MR-1 but at the range twice i was with guys that own XRC rifles in 223 and they had constants ejections problems and the offficier own a Swiss rifle in 223 and he can not make better groups than my MR-1 do, the only 2 rifles that suprised me that much were my Steyr Scout 308 and my TC Icon Precision Hunter for being as accurate as both my TRG, now if i can find somebody with a R-1 i would like to buy one in 300 mag i would like feedbacks... Cheers. JP.

I picked up my MR-1 today. It has the collapsible stock. I am going to look for a cantilever rail that I can attach to the front of the existing rail. Then I'll try my Leupold IER 2.5x or another compact, lightweight variable.

Otherwise I may go with a Sparc in a low mount and try for a 1/3 co-witness. I would prefer to have more magnification than the 2x that comes with the Sparc for this all round bush rifle.

Ahhhh....I would love more stock length adjustability, but I just could not get over what the adjustable stock looks like on this thing...some sort of strange manta-ray alien stock thingy. THat being said, I really wish the lop was shorter, and am going to do some hunting to find a thinner recoil pad.

Let us know how the sparc co-witnesses. I realized my own eye focus is making the co-witness for me very blurry...its kind of odd. I'll need to get a pic up to compare to you.

I added a nice viking tactics 2 point sling on her today from DS tactical, helps with the pig weight which is about 10lbs with optic now. In the battle rifle/DMR weight range already.
