So, I recently bought a Benelli MR1 rifle.

First two trips to the range it functioned flawlessly, shooting with its irons.

Third trip was yesterday, I bought a Bushnell Banner 3-9 optic and mounted it on a riser.

All of a sudden, stoppages galore.

Where previously the firearm was ejecting casings abot 20 feet, now they rarely travel 4 feet, and there is terrible damage to almost every casing.

The stoppage is always the same, the spent round is caught by the bolt coming forward, and the next round is fed into the chamber. The spent round always has the case mouth facing out away from the action.

I have throughly cleaned the firearm, and switched the optic mount (lost all my zero of course...) because the riser's screws were on the side with the charging handle, making it difficult to charge the weapon.

Does anyone have any ideas on what may be causing this?

I am unfamiliar with this firearm, but the first thing that comes to mind is scope mount bolts protruding into the receiver, and somehow slowing the bolt, so it doesn't cycle all the way, thereby causing a stove pipe........just a guess!

It does seem like something has changed since you installed a scope

EDIT.....I just googled the firearm.....I see there is a rail on top, so scope mount bolts protruding is likely out, LOL!

take the scope off. if it stops. its more than likely something to do with it. my guess would be somehow the shells are hitting some part of the scope. my guess would be the windage knob.
